I figure i should ask here even tho i only get 1 reply if im lucky at this site. But after using a PC on my red explorer all i see is holograms ive watched videos and read alot of stuff on proper technique and all i get are holograms. I actually prefer the swirls over the holograms. Im getting very discouraged with this.

My process is

2 passes with Meguiars deep crystal polish spread with speed 3 then work in with 5 1 section at a time wipe off with microfiber cloth

Wax once same speeds remove with a different microfiber

could it be that im using OTC products or do i just not know what im doing at all.

Its making me hate my truck

DC is not strong enough to remove your holograms-it is basically a chemical cleaner with very little paint correction. You need to step up to #80 or #83.

Try kicking the speed up to 6 with a light polishing foam pad and let the product work in. Could be the product but this should help some.

I find it hard to beleive your inducing holograms with a PC , what type of pad are you using and whos is it ? You could be running the pad too dry , try using more product on the pad . The PC is plenty powerful to remove them . Post pics if you can . :buffing:

I know I've good holograms on my trunk from my PC

Basically, i was learning, and it looks nice until you are in that spot in the sun (or walmart parking lights)

With a pc you just need to go really really slow. start out by spreading the compound @ 3 (or what ever you feel confortable with... less than 3) and then go one pass at 5 and then finish off with 6. If you are using a polish that dusts... if it is dusting to the point where there is little or no polish under the pad... you are working it tooo long, and if the polish isnt clear then you are not working it long enough.

I find it very hard to believe that you are getting holograms from a PC. I have never gotten holograms on a PC. You need to step up to some products with abrasives.

I've gotten holograms on our white expedition with a wolfgang orange and OC, but using the same process, didn't get any on my dark green camry, or carbon expedition. I just finished off with OP and the white wolfgang pad and they were gone :)

Meg's DC Polish doesn't really have any abrasives in it, so its not inducing marring.. Given that, it could be your pad. If you want to remove anything, you need to step up to an actual polish, ie something with abrasives that will remove small amounts of the clear. Try Meg's 80 with a polishing pad.. long working time and pretty easy to use.

I'd start with a new product, something that has some mild abrasives to remove the holograms. Also regarding your waxing comment, I think speed 5 is too high to spread the wax, you really don't need much from the pc and don't need any pressure for that step. I've also never had any holograms from using my pc.

Thanks for the help guys im gonna step up to something new soon. IDK what tho. I dont do the wax with speed 5 more like 3.5. I live in Shelby Twp MI
