Airbag sticker removal mod (with pics)

So, I don't know about anyone else but I HATE those airbag warning stickers in cars nowadays. I took it upon myself to remove mine today, and thought I would take photos along the way and do a write up for any like-minded individuals. Keep in mind before people get into the legalities of removing them it is only the manufacturer which must install and display them, owner can do whatever they want. Like cutting the tag off of your mattress.

You will need: Goof Off (NOT Goo Gone), cotton balls, scraping device

Step 1: Remove sun visors. On my '05 the little plastic cover simply pops off when you pry with a screwdriver in the slit area. Once the cover is removed just unscrew the 2 screws holding it on. This job would be impossible with the visors installed.

Step 2: Apply Goof Off to warning sticker. You will almost immediately see the sticker start to disolve if you rub on it. What you really want to do is saturate the sticker slightly so it starts to kind of bubble up a bit.

Step 3: If you have saturated the sticker enough you can now gently scrape it off. It was pretty effortless in my experience. The adhesive underneath the sticker will remain, but we will get to that.

Step 4: Remove the adhesive left behind. I used more Goof Off to accomplish this step, with the help of my trusty fingernail to scrape the adhesive off once it was moist. The Goof Off will wrinkle the vinyl, but don't worry it will relax back to normal in about an hour or so.

Step 5: Enjoy your clean visors the way they should have been from the factory! You will still notice an area from where the sticker was applied (with heat I assume leaving some permanent "damage" to the vinyl), but no where near as annoying as the giant yellow sticker that was there before. It's not near as noticeable sitting in the vehicle as it is in this picture. Driving is now far less distracting without those things screaming in my eyes.

Nice job. Now if only there was an easy (or even not-so-easy) way to get those stickers off cloth-covered sun visors.

I've seen the cloth ones in a vette removed with heat. Hairdryer seems to work where solvent won't from what I've read.
