Air Bag Dust

What's up folks. My uncle gave me a call today and told me that his van was back from the shop. He was involved in an accident and the air bags were deployed. Well now he says he can still smell the dust from the airbag. Anyone deal with this before? I'm guessing my extractor will take most of it out.

I'm not exactly sure why any of the substances below would cause any lingering smells. I would think that you could just do a really good vacuum on every exposed surface unless these substances are ground into the carpets or seats.

"Most of this dust consists of cornstarch or talcum powder, which are used to lubricate the air bag during deployment. Small amounts of sodium hydroxide may initially be present. This chemical can cause minor irritation to the eyes and/or open wounds; however, with exposure to air, it quickly turns into sodium bicarbonate (common baking soda). Depending on the type of air bag system, potassium chloride (a table salt substitute) may also be present."
