AIO + WG Durability

I know everyone says that WG will last anywhere from 2 to 3 months but If you're more interested in durability does it really matter? On the bottle of my AIO it says it will provide 6-9 months worth of protection and AIO alone does give a pretty nice shine.



My question is, how can you tell if the WG has worn off if you're still getting the protection and shine from the AIO?
 
In my experience, AIO will not last 6 months. More like 3-4 weeks. As for WG, its mostly oil. It's not really a sealant (though I do like it and the look it provides). You can use it over any base you wish. I got about 6 weeks from it before the water started clinging to the surface. If durability is what you are after you may want to try a different product.
 
a polymer is an oil base product- the "oil" cures. as for durability that depends on a number of situations-someone posted that "resins" last 6-9 months
 
Oil as in it will wash away after a couple of washes, leaving nothing behind, like a glaze. WG is a nice looking product, but it certainly does not last as long as one would expect from a 'polymer'.

Actually, for me, EX w/carnauba has been more durable than original version of EX-P. I haven't had EX-P+ long enough to make any durability assessment.



I don't have a definitive answer how to tell if WG has worn off and AIO is providing the protection. I do like the appearance of the combo though. Durability may depend on your area. The Dallas area is pretty kind to waxes since we don't have acid rain or industrial fallout. How you wash can also effect durability. I normally use QEW which is very gentle on wax.

I didn't have much luck with EXP either (in terms of durability). It also left white patches in some sections, even though I know I buffed everything off. So far Zaino has been the best in terms of durability. But that's just me. YMMV.

All rain is acidic Scott. If you get rain, you get acid rain.



shelshel - 4* UPP provides a great look IMO. It's definitely worth a shot.
 
I think I can relate to what Scottwax is saying, here in the Northeast I wouldnt get two washes out of WG but others around the country whom I trust say they get months out of products that just dont last here.



When I was thinking of opening a car was years back one of the vendors I dealt with was telling me they formulate the soap based on what contaminants are present in the local area. To further his point he had flypaper on an area of his hood that was used to collect the contaminants and mix based on what he found. He was a salesman so take it with a grain of salts, a big one at that. It does matter where you are and points out the problem of the MFG in trying to formulate a product that will give the same results from Maine to Scottsdale..... quite a varying landscape.



I would hope people elsewhere get more than two washes out of Wolfgang, I loved the look and ease of use but never got more than that.



I found my new sealant in UPP but still love Klasse. I spent the last 3 days putting Klasse on and already recieved more comments than in the last 4 months. Hard to imagine a product this old still being this hard to beat.

I have never seen an acid rain damaged car down here. Whatever the acid content of our rain may be, it is nothing like the northeast.
 
Having lived in New England for 34 years before I moved down here to Texas 2 1/2 years ago, it seems to me that it hardly ever rains here in Texas as compaired to the frequency of precipitaion (rain/snow) in the North East. The weather down here is quite wax/sealant friendly. The blazing sun is a different story, however!
 
I live 2 miles from a coal plant and I have acid rain spots on my car- in all honesty I don't know if any product can really protect paint from acid rain:(
