Aio+sg+upp = Wow!

I'm fairly new to the detailing club, and i've gotten some great ideas by reading the various posts here. Last month, i bought a PC and some #7 and #26. I applied the #7 and 2 coats of #26 to my white supercrew. Looked good, but I thought it could be better. It's really hard to get a white vehicle to 'pop'. So, after reading a zillion posts here, I ordered the klasse twins and UPP. Yesterday, I did the AIO and the SG. I used the wipe on/wipe off method for the SG. There was a noticeable improvement over the 7 and 26. Tonite, I applied the UPP with my PC and was amazed at how easily it buffed off. The gloss it provides is incredible and the surface is extremely slick. I'm repeating the process on the wife's red accord. After the aio and sg, the red seems deeper and you can actually see the metalflake in the paint. I'll put on the UPP tomorrow.

I would post pictures, but i dont have a dig camera....yet...

Thanks to all you folks for a great site!!

Just AIO and UPP is a great combination. I'm not suprised the addition of SG in the middle worked even better.

You can take pics with print film and when you have them developed, ask for a picture CD. Viola! Problem solved!

Qualification: These questoins are based on my recent learning and may be all off base, especially the terminology, but I just gotta know (this is like a sickness, I really do need another car so I can compare all the products I now have).

Those are my two favorite sealers (along w/Zaino), but I didn't think about layering them!

Before I ask my question, FYI, every time I try something new these days I do a panel by panel test also splitting the hood down the middle, all for comparisons sake. I have some of the car with the old or single layer with the new part being the new product or layered product. Sometimes you can see a difference right away but more often it takes a full week to see the difference. These products all work so well, the latest layer of any of them is pretty awesome (my current thinking only). For that reason if it's more than a couple of days I even redo a "single layer" section so it's fresh, not add another layer but redo the first layer using a polish or cleaner to restart.

My reason for this is that as I was buying new products or layer a new combo, the last attempt always ended up being my new favorite, but when I went back to try an old (last months or last weeks) combo that also became my new favorite. Not that this is a problem, but it did convince me that often the differences are really subtle, but do matter.

Was the difference of the UPP enough so you could see it when being buffing off? Sometimes differences are so subtle (to my eye) it's more of an overall effect , or a small section isn't enough to make a dfference quite so clear. It may take the whole car to "see" that effect, was it this type of improvement?

I have so much going on right now with comparing sealants and carnuaba, and also polishes that I can't try it out myself for a few months.

Thanks in advance for the additional info.

After thinking about it a little more here's the comparison that I'll add to my backlog of tests, unless someone has some results:

AIO-SG-SG VS AIO-SG-UPP

Anyone do a side by side test?

Yep, to be complete. The testing and verification can be endless, but a blast.

For me the hardest part is to actually tell a difference when using these products that all give outstanding results.

~One man’s opinion, observation~

I would agree on AIO…etc. I’m not a great fan of sealants but UPP will give a depth of shine that most others lack.

~Hope this helps~

prgallo,

sorry so delayed in responding...i've been sick...the short answer to your question, is yes, i could see an immediate difference from the upp when buffing it off..the gloss it provided was immediate and the slickness is amazing....the upp was so much easier to remove than the sg...i'm debating now whether to not just skip the sg step next time and go straight to the upp.

I've narrowed down me active list of favorite finishes to SG, UPP, Zaino and P21S. But I haven't tried PWC or EX yet... (and PoorBoys products are a favorite already)

Not very conclusive...

Now I'm trying out some different polishes & cleaners, AIO and SSR2&1 are great, now I'm adding GEPC to the mix...

With all this stuff, the combinations are numerous. To numerous...

Oh yeah, how about UGE, Z5 (or is it 6) and QD+. Love them too, gotta try some Sonus as well.

The bottom line, I need another car to try more combinations.

P.S. Thanks for the feedback on the UPP, that fact it's obvious is a big deal. Sometimes the differences (IMHO) are so subtle it's hard to tell.

I usually do AIO + 2x SG on my silver celica. It looks good and the car stays clean forever but I am not always happy with the results. I tried AIO + UPP + SG on my car this past weekend and the shine is definately better. I will post some pictures.

Here is the best picture I was able to take in my garage w/o a tripod.

From all the reading I've done (I use SG too), 24 hours is minimum. One week is considered optimum by others. I let my schedule and do it when it's convenient and just don't worry about it. (either 24 hours or a week or two)
