AIO only protection

I saw my sister's RAV4 last night and the 2 coats of AIO done on non-consecutive weekends is failing. Good to see what failing looks like (won't see it on my car ;)) It sorta like beading but the beads look funny and spread out and irregular shape (no sheeting what so ever) It's been since October since we did this so I'm not surprised.

My sister also asked me what to do with her bottle of windex. It seems that when she uses microfiber towels she doesn't need to use windex. She crackes me up.

Here is a corolla with 1X Klasse AIO by PC, 4X SG by hand (one night before this whole cure thing was brought up), then Blitz X1 in August, 1X Blitz in November, and nothing applied since then, maybe the occasional touchless wash and wipe down with a rag. There are swirls in the paint now. I intend to get that out and then put some Zaino on it.

Here goes two pictures of it, still looks spectacular, minus the swirls and light dust. I believe all the Blitz is gone, but Klasse should still be on there. I Qd a small 1X1 section with Z-6, WOW, nice and slick.

Thumbs up to Klasse for living up through all this torture of touchless washes and some snow/rain.

(one night before this whole cure thing was brought up)

Jason do you mean when the concept (let SG cure for 24hrs.) was originally rasied or something else?

I recognize this as a technique, but have not gotten on board with it as a must way of doing business. Other than great results was there some scienetific info posted (not that every other technique in Autopia is scienced based:) )

Curious.

I did the 4X Klasse SG in one night. This was before this forum started talking about the 24 hour cure time with layering Klasse SG. I did let the Klasse SG dry on the car for a long time though (an hour and a half for each coat.)

The 24 hour cure time is not a must use technique. It is recommended for the best results with layering the Klasse SG. I don't have a week to do this so I jsut do it all in one shot.

Hope this clears things up,

Jason

It's sorta a scientific explanation for something that came upon by practice.

Don and them (sorry don't recall who them wasj, Beau and Tim perhaps?) figured out that if you layer SG on different days that it looks visibly better. The scientific reasoning drawn by this effect has come to been explained that the acrylic resin in SG polymerizes (cures) in sometime in the 24 hours span (no one has measured it). We know that this isn't to far a stretch because we have products (ZFX) that catalyze this reaction so that you can effectively coat back to back.

Now that doesn't mean that you can't do it or that it won't work. It just means that you'll be putting slightly uncured SG atop another. When you layer, they will all come to cure over time and look great.

You can actually try it out. If you put 2 layers of SG in 48 hours it does look noticably better than 2 layers back to back.

that's just what I gather BTW, it's not proven it's just what how attempt to explain things. HTH

it also helps the explaination on how AIO can serve double duty and act as an SG wannabe. If you allow it to cure, it polymerizes as SG does and then leaves behind a layer of protection. If you don't rub that layer off you can get a little more with a second layer of AIO "layed" on top of the other.

Sorry, no scientific jargon, but I just finished wiping off another layer of Klasse SG a couple hours ago, and I must admit that it noticably does look better when giving it at least 24 hours to cure (it's been a couple weeks for me since my last layer of SG). I've done back to back, and I've also done SG, wait over night, remove SG, apply more SG, wait an hour, then remove, and of the 3 procceses, I've gotten the best visible results from waiting a week or two. I have not expierenced "gumming" when removing SG at any time.
