AIO before IP ok?

I'm due to do a badly oxidised red car this week. From reading all the posts I selected AIO as product of choice for the oxidation.

I need to know if its ok to remove the oxidation with AIO, then remove swirls/marring with IP, rather than the reverse.

My thinking is that the oxidation will fill up my pad too much, wasting the cutting action of IP.

If that seems prudent, any advice as to using AIO in this fashion?

Thanks for any advice forthcoming. :D

If the job is to big for AIO I don't think its going to save your pads that much. I don't think there's any reason not to do it but them pads are going to get bunched either way.

I'm wondering whether the acrylic protection AIO leaves behind will interfere with IP and whether it would be faster and more effective using this sequence.

IMO I think it would work out just fine and maybe even better just to use IP then AIO. I always use AIO as the step before my LSP.

But is that on bad oxidation or just regular paint?

I agree. I would first IP (cutting or polishing pad) than finish job with AIO (polishing or finishing pad). IP will not only remove the oxidation but polish the finsih at the same time. The AIO will increase the gloss, cleanse and remove any minor hazying that the IP may create.:xyxthumbs

Have you tried using âہ“ LC Durastrand, this innovative "foam strips" pad is designed without a smooth surface. This enables it to hold a lot of oxidized paint without "loading up" or gumming up the surface like regular foam cutting pads. The hundreds of swirl-free foam strips reach every crack and crevice and hold a great deal of oxidized paint. This pad does not leave swirls, so there is no additional compounding Pad size-8.5-inch.â€Â
