AIO and Carlack68 are NOT the same

I do not believe CarLack68 and AIO are the same product, here is why I believe this.



Firstly the colour, Carlack68 is white and the consistency of single cream. It has no odour, if I place a large drop on my finger the only thing I can smell is the plastic container that houses the product.



Secondly, I have heard people comment on these boards that AIO leaves a texture that you can feel on the car surface, almost like an acrylic skin, I have not found anything like this left on the cars that I have so far treated with Carlack68.



Thirdly here are some claims from the back of the products container.

30 years of experience guarantees a high class quality product, suitable for all kinds of paints, including metallic paints and new car finishes.



Car-Lack68 is effective and mild, cleans almost all surfaces, rfemoves rust insects grease deep-seated dirt and oxidations.



Can be applied to paints chrome, stainless steel surfaces, ceramics, marble, tiles, fibreglass, smooth plastic surfaces etc.



And the directions for use ::

Wash surface, apply carlack68 to wet or dry surface with cloth, NO POLISHING NECESSARY (this is in bold on the package) simply wipe dust off. Repeat application 2 â€â€œ 3 times a year to preserve new surfaces. Car-lack68 can be applied in the sun. Not suitable for porous surfaces, apply car-lack plastic cleaner instead.



So there you have it, some of my reasoning for thinking that AIO and Car-Lack68 are different products â€Â¦ however addressing all you AIO users, and I know there are many, having read all of this would this suggest that the products are in fact the same?

Paul, I dunno, I used AIO for the first time last Saturday, and to be completely honest was WOW'ed by AIO, I have never felt a slicker finish, and I havn't used carlack 68, what I could do, is send you over a small sample of AIO to try out and compare that directly to carlack



Only one small prob, I dont have any spare 2 or 4 oz bottles left, PM me if your interested, I'm sure we can work something out.

Wolfgang Rappersberger brought Carlack 68 to the U.S. more than 20 years ago. The exported tin cans at that time, were labeled under the name Klasse.
 
Is there a web distributor in the UK for Carlack 68 who will ship to the US? If so, I would appreciate their web address.

I was told by Carlack 'Customer Services' that there is no official distributor in the UK and was told that I could purchase direct with them in Germany if I wished. All I had to do was email them the products I wanted and they would arrange the shipping. There are certain places in the UK where you can purchase it - but obviously they just don't happen to be official distributors.



Axe... I would say that just because two products are a different colour, consistency, smell etc. doesn't necessarily mean that they don't share many of the same ingredients. I've still yet to try Carlack68, but I'm looking foward giving it a try - I've used AIO quite regularly lately, so it'll be interesting to do a side by side test.
 
I agree pugoman, but as I stated in my original post , I believe the results of the product are different to that of AIO. The acrylic 'skin' just doesn't happen with Carlack. If you have both products then you are in a better position than I to judge, but since you have not yet tried them both we don't know ... I have a couple of (Zaino) 2 oz empty bottles here if anyone (UK mainland) would be interested in sending me a sample ... PM me ta.
 
Carlack has another sealant called Poly-Lack. I've heard that it is tannish in color... What can be the difference? Which is the true AIO?

My memory is almost as bad as my German. I just got a phone call, and I stand corrected. Wolgang Rappersberger was/is a chemie at Carlack. Wolfgang Petsch was the man that brought Klasse from Carlack to the U.S., back around 78 or 79.
 
OK through a kind soul (thanks PK1) here on Autopia a sample will be winging its way to me early next week. With a bit of good weather I will be able to try AIO on my car, hopefully then I will be able to compare the products side by side, I will post my results next weekend hopefully
 
I cannot remember the full details but the Klasse twins were not designed to work together. One was for cars and the other was for boats. It just so happened that they worked well together.
 
Carlack Gmbh makes many different formulas. People should not assume that the products distributed in Europe are the same as those sent to the States under several different names.
