Hi, i have a black car. When looking at nearly a flat angle to the car panels i can see thousands of swirls but also what seems to be ALOT of light scratchs. I have gs-27, meguirs scratch -x. Which one is more aggressive. Would it be okay to go over the whole car with a coat of the less aggressive one withouth harming the clear to much. I would then top with BF Polish and PAiint Prx. From my understand Meguirs 2.0??? and 3M SMR??? are only effective with a buffer, what other products would you recommened to get rid of swirls, scratches which seem to be in a horizontal line when looking a certain angles which can be removed without a buffer. THanks

GS27 and ScratchX are more for small areas. If you are going to do your whole car then you'll want to get some 3M SMR or something. Those other two products are great for smaller areas. There are just better things out there if you are doing a large area like the whole car.

There is another thread going on about how to remove swirls without a buffer. Basicly, it is going to be incredibly difficult. I wouldn't use a product like GS27 or ScratchX for it though. Not only will it be crazy expensive (You'd probably need a couple tubes of either) but its not going to work as well as something done by a machine. What you are trying to accomplish is really the work for a machine and not by hand. You can do it by hand if you are strong enough and experienced enough. Make sure you eat your Wheaties before you try it though.

I have used the 3M SMR and 3M rubbing compound(can not remember which one, low memory, needs to be recharged) by hand. Both these were recommended to me to use by hand from the 3M helpline. Call them(their number should be on their website). It took me a little work to acheive the shine I wanted without the swirls but it worked.
