After FMJ?

Today I spent 10 hours Clay, wash, IP, FPII, FMJ; tomorrow I was going to do Natty Blue (2003 Black Mercedes). I also use FK425, UQD, or OID with each wash. The slick shine resulting from today's work, with the FMJ was incredible. It is so good, and I am so tired (I am not a youngster:heelclick), that I was thinking the FMJ as the last LSP along with 425 etc with each wash may give me the look I need without having to do Carnuba too.

Can I expect the 425 to last a while, or will slickness diminish quickly? I usually apply Natty's every 4-6 weeks, but if the FMJ can last, along with the QD's I might just go with that. Does the Carnuba extend the life of the sealant as well? What would you recommend? Thanks for the advice, Rick

Sorry to hear you did so much work and topped with FMJ as it has dismal durability. I used FMJ for a long time before I found this site. I did a comparison between FMJ and Zaino. After the test, I couldn't return the FMJ fast enough.

A couple of guys I respect suggested I try 1Z Glanz Wax as my new LSP, I did, it goes on easy, comes off easy, looks great and so far it has kept the look and beading after 6 weeks of weekly washing and that includes a week at the beach - complete with salt and several frog strangling thunder storms.

Thanks. I read the reviews on FMJ on a couple of boards. They are pretty inconsistant. Some rave, some don't like it. I decided to take a chance, probably based on the people who loved it. The ratings on Detailedimage.com, though older, were very favorable. I understand what others have said about durability, some say the slickness disappeared long before the beading did. Since I use 425 and OID, I thought I would give it a whirl. I left one patch on the roof without NB, so I can see the comparison as time and washes go on. I must say, ease on/off and slickness of FMJ were very favorable..

Of course I got right up this AM and put on the Natty Blue. I knew I would..
