Advice on Chemical Guys MF, WW towels and waterless wash.

I think I'm about to order a dozen elite ultra plush microfibers from Chemical Guys and I've got some questions about their other products.

Are their waffle weave drying towels as good as I hear their MFs are?

Do they offer a product thats comparable to Poorboys S&W? I was looking at their extreme slick synthetic polymer detailer specifically. I really like S&W but I like to order as many products from the same place as possible to cut down on shipping costs so I was hoping CG offers something similar. A lot of the time that after a week my truck has nothing more than some dust on it and S&W takes care of it without marring/scratching (so far!).

Anything else from them I should try? Thanks a lot.

The Extreme Slicks is NOT comparable to S&W; it is more comparable to S&G. CG Speed Wipe, on the other hand, cleans like S&W but leaves a nicer finish. Pro Detailer also cleans like S&W and leaves an even better finish, but you should really only use it to maintain carnauba wax.

Here is my comparison-review of the three CG QD's: http://autopia.org/forum/detailing-...cg-qds.html?highlight=pro+detailer+speed+wipe

As for everything else you should try:

Liquid Extreme Shine

trim gel

Maxi-Suds

Silk Shine

EZ~Creme Glaze (my favorite product they make)

Spider Buff

Leather Cleaner/Conditioner and Leather Scent

Sofast odor eater

XXX Paste Wax

Their Super Absorber WW is a great towel.... very soft and absorbent. But to save a few $$$ get the Monterey WW from Exceldetail, it is the same towel but only $10.49. Then to save even more $$$ the Sonus WW's are on sale (3 for $24) and are made with the same soft and absorbent MF material, they are just a different color.... yellow with a red satin border (the picture shows the older style towel, the new one has a satin binding and no tags).

I have some other CG MF's (ULTRA-PLUSH SUPER PREMIUM), which are fine, but there are others I like better like the Poorboy's Deluxe Mega Towel.

Thanks for the help, thats just the information I was looking for. I did some searching and never came across your thread about their QDs. It can be a little challenging to find info on CG products since search terms have to be 3 characters long and most people dont type out "Chemical Guys" in their thread titles.

Looks like at the minimum I will be adding some speed wipe to my order. I've been on a kick for sealants lately (Mothers FX FWIW) but I may have to try their XXX paste wax and some pro detailer too..................This is going to get expensive fast. :lol Thanks for the help, their website is confusing.

I know what you mean. It took me 6 searches to find my own thread. LOL

The CG website is a real PITA to get any information from, so you're best off talking to members here who have tried everything. I'll add a few links to reviews on this thread so you don't have to search for them. Oh, and if you want to just buy 16oz. sizes, our forum sponsor Danase.com sells their own 16oz. line loosely based on the CG line, and they also have a few true CG products left.

If you want to try one of their sealants, I recommend getting either Micro-seal or Factory-seal...they're both similar, and very good, but durability is disappointing. And no matter what, use the EZ~Creme Glaze under them...it's really that amazing.

Thanks for the links, thats much more useful than the descriptions on CG's website. Their descriptions are wacky and contradict themselves, lol.

So, looks like no matter what I will be getting some of their speed wipe, ez creme glaze and leather cleaner/conditioner. I'll probably also try M-Seal and I'm about to do some more research on blitz.

As far as the MFs go I still think I'll get their elite ultra plush MFs. I'm definately going to jump on that sale on Sonus drying towels as well (thanks Eliot Ness!).

Don't bother with the extreme slick.

1. It ain't slick

2. It smells like fly spray

3. Does nothing to boost protection

No problem. I love it when the CG description says something like "no abrasives" and then a few lines down says "abrasives polish away swirls"...lol.

Sounds good. Unfortunately there's not much info about Blitz out there, so you may be a pioneer. If you do get it, please post up a review.

Looks like they only sell M-seal in gallon sizes, so I may wait a little while on that. I already have too many sealents/waxes that I need to use lying around...I was hoping I could get it in 16oz to try out. Oh well, I will still definately get a gallon of speed wipe and some ez creme glaze. Probably try blitz as well.

Why don't you email CG directly and ask them these questions or better yet ask them to call you? I have always had my emails and phone calls returned within a reasonable amount of time.

we got a CG M-Seal sample in 16oz. All you have to do is ask. Mark and Paul are great guys, and very helpful.

Frito - I've used their f-seal on the last 5-8 cars I've done and it's incredibly easy on/off regardless of how thick you put it on, and has the best look and slickness of any sealant I've tried. I haven't had enough time with it to accurately assess durability, but at least one vehicle I've used it on is still beading tightly after 2 months. Supposedly mseal has slightly better durability with possibly less slickness and ease of use according to cg. I am loving the fseal so far! They do offer 16 oz bottles, I think they're on the left nav called get lucky or something like that.

The Pro Detailer is listed as a QD and waterless car wash. I haven't used it, but I did buy a gallon of the Speed Wipe and like it quite a bit as a QD. it cleans nicely and leaves a great shine, more along the line of PB Spray & Gloss. I wouldn't use it on a really dirty car though.

Hmmm...I found that Speed Wipe was more a PB Spray & Wipe replacement, while CG Synthetic was more like PB S&G (both even have the same scent...).

Could be, because I think the Speed Wipe is the same as Adams detailer and they list it as a waterless wash on the Adams site.

You're right, they have it in 16oz under Get Lucky. Not my brightest moment. :chuckle:

We should to start a petition to get them to redesign their wacky website.

Doesn't CG make Adams and Danase detail spray? I didn't realize speed wipe was the same stuff. I'm glad I know now though as I love Adams detail spray. I never tried it as a waterless wash though, I'll have to give that a shot. I've been tempted to drink the stuff many times.....It's a good bit cheaper through CG as well.
