Adverting in church newsletters

Anyone had any luck advertising in church bulletins or newsletters? I'm trying to figure out if it is worth my money or not.

Hmm that is an interesting idea. I know some individuals will place ads on the bulletin board, but have

yet to ever see any in the actual hand out.

Initially, it seems like a good idea. I say initially because I haven't thought of the drawbacks, lol.

Other than having a dissatisfied customer being someone you see bi-weekly.

I don't think this is optimization of your marketing dollars.

You will pay a sum of money to have a group of people be aware of your presence. After they know about you...that's it. Barely any new prospects will hear about you. How about using that money to make yourself more accessible to people looking for detailers by using it on your website for search engine optimization, yellowpages.com, or other places like that.

Before you spend any money on marketing....make sure that it's your best use of the money.

This is interesting... throughout my church life I have never seen this kind of advertising services being offered by such institution. Perhaps it's because I have never attended more than twenty different churches in my life.

Anyway, I believe leadfootluke says it best. I've personally dealt with people from church. Needless to say, it gets awkward to see the other party in a religious setting when a transaction became sticky. Perhaps this is where Matthew 21:12, Mark 11:15, Luke 19:45 fall into context.

In my opinion, by merely socializing and networking with your peers from church, you are more effectively marketing your services than you are advertising on church newsletters. By socializing and networking, you do not come across as business minded.

Just to be clear....... these are not churches that I am a member of...... so I won't have to see these people once a week for life. I simply want to make my services known to them and most of the churches around here each have similar demographics within each church. It makes it easy to target specific groups of people, such as high income over 65 that live in a general area.

Jesus and his friends love clean cars... Jump on the bandwagon and use Jesus to market yourself and your services like the plethora of others before you have. Jesus will make you rich if you know how and where to market him ;).

Just a thought...I think instead of advertising in the newsletter, I'd contact the pastor, and offer to detail his car for free. The free detail would be less than the cost of advertising, and the pastor probably knows about everyone in the church. I am sure you'd get a good bit of word of mouth advertising, and jobs from him telling others how well you did on his car.

That's a thought!

My pastor has been building hotrods for decades. I'm sure he wouldn't mind his Harley or customs detailed :)

My church has about 1500 people in it and ALOT of successful people, business owners and alot of nice cars. I've done 4-5 details for fellow church members, giving them my normal prices and extraordinary service. They alway over pay me as a blessing and word gets out REAL FAST. And I see these people on Sun, and WED every week. But i make sure that i pay tithes and offerings too! thats the first thing before anything! In my case, it has gotten me alot of business, but it's all word of mouth, no advertising charge for that!
