Adams Clay

Clay bars are all realitivly the same, now that the manufacturing and sales of detailing clay are regulated thanks to automagic. They still have different grades of clay, such as the green color of the new Adams, Pinnacle and Sonius clay which they advertise - and it is considered an ultra-fine grade clay capable of removing contaminants but safe enough to use frequently. Automagic makes a blue clay, which is slightly more agressive and better suited for vehicles that are very contaminated and will be followed with a proper polishing and LSP system, as the more agressive clays, even when used properly, may cause paint marring or fine scratches ( read some of the threads on clay ) I have the odler version of Adams clay, which was in fact a type of clay highly sought after by many pro detailers on this website, but is no longer produced and cannot be sold due to patents and statute form the automagic patent battle. The deal you are seeing on their website ( I order form Adams frequently and use several of their products ) is not bad - but it would not hurt to check out Autogeek, Danese, Proper Auto Care or Top of the Line websites to see if you can find a better deal . . .

hope this helps. . . .

Correction: Auto Magic's blue clay can be used for any and all applications and does not require any polishing after using. I use it reqularly between waxing treatments and it will not harm a protected finish.

Thanks - Let me restate my question,

Has anyone used the clay that Adams is currently selling at their site? if so, did you like it? No marring?

It's a 400 gram bar = alot of clay for the money.......

Thanks

Agreed, Thanks!!

shhh you cant tell nayone about the clay deal, theere all going to order and then prices will go up.

But on a serious note, i tried it beforeit was cheaop and it works well, like any other clay. I would say order some. I know im going to soon

Just called Adams, they said someone made a mistake and it's 2 - 100 gram bars for $20, not 4 -100 gram bars for $20

Sorry - No Deal there.... :(

sorry dave, your right, but would you agree that the blue automagic clay is slighlty more agressive than the green "ultra fine" clays now being marketed by different brand names ?

the blue automagic clay is very cost efficiant and is what I use on most vechiels that I detail for customers, based it's price, and effectiveness - and that process is usually followed by polishing and waxing because the condition of the vehicle requires it. I havent treid it for general mantience on my cared for vehicles, perhaps I will try it out . . .

either way - the adams clay should work just fine . . good luck

fdizzle - I can't honestly answer that question. I don't see any need for a less agressive clay than Blue Clay Magic. If the blue doesn't do any damage, I don't see the need for a lighter product. Why would anyone need a lighter clay? I can understand the need for a heavier clay, like their Red Clay Magic, but I tend to stay away from it unless it is really needed. Instead of using red clay, I sand with 4000 grit wet/dry sandpaper. Mush niced outcome.

Why the continuous decline in bar size and then vendors needs to package them as "multiple" bars, I cant figure it out. One 200g bar is just as good as two 100g bars. :)

With Adam's clay, you get 1- 200g gray clay bar. It is a little more aggressive and not as pliable as our old clay, but it will not scratch your finish.

Clean O2 - I take it your an avid Adams user or an employee ?

Dave . . . Good point there, I just did a blue Mini today and used the Pinnacle Ultra Poly on one side and the Automagic Blue on the other (keeping your comments in mind) and I was hardpressed to tell the difference . . . Automagic has red clay hu? Is that avalible to the public? Where could I get some to just say I have it ?

10 4 - knew that . . . . I would'nt dream of using it unless the finish was going to be compounded via rotray . . .

More of an avid user, but I am friends with Adam and work shows at Carlisle with him.
