Saturday morning I detailed the engine of this 1997 Acura SLX. These are fairly rare SUV's. Apparently a tech forgot to put the oil cap on so it made a good mess. The owner had to run before I could take some real after pics. These are just after cleaning it but before drying and applying protectants.

Process:

Purple power FS to degrease. Various brushes and MF to scrub.

Megs Nxt tech wash to clean up the Purple power and rinsed with a light stream of water.

Dryed with MF's and shop vac on blow.

After I finished the SLX I worked on this A4. I had last detailed this A4 about a year ago and the owner described it as having been through H3ll. That was a fairly accurate description. He said not to worry much about the wheels since they are curbed bad and he is going to get new ones. The paint was swirled good, had many RIDS (he snowboards to the roof is really bad), and lots of water spotting/etching. He wanted me to focus on swirl removal.

Process:

Wheels - Megs WB to clean

Tires/wells - A2Z and scrubbed. Protected with Nxt tech protectant

Megs Nxt Tech wash

Blue clay magic with Nxt wash as lube

SIP at 1700-1800 with Orange 6.5" LC VC pad

106FF at 1200-1400 with 6.5" white LC CCS pad

FMJ by hand to seal

Exhaust tip received Mothers aluminum polish by hand

My GTI in the reflection

Thanks for looking.

Questions or comments are welcomed. :)

SLX's are rare! I have only ever seen 2 Honda Passports in my life and only pictures of the SLX. Great job on the details!

Very nice correction work on the black Audi John.

Thanks Bryan. I have not actually used SIP with an orange LC pad until this detail. It sure does work well! Most colors wouldn't even need to 106FF afterwards.

Awesome work. That audi sure cleaned up nice.

Thanks. I was very pleased with the outcome.

That Audi looks fantastic! How long did that take? Looks like he's only got one curbed wheel.

Will do a search to find photos of that red GTI!

Thanks! I spent about 6.5-7 hours on it. All the wheels are curbed, but it's hard to see in the pics. At least 2 are really bad. He said he wants a different style wheel anyways and his tires are about shot so he figures it is time for an upgrade.

I have a few pics of my GTI on autopia. I can PM you some more if you wish to see it.
