Acidic wheel cleaners on tires bad?

How safe are you using dedicated acidic "wheel only" cleaners like Meguiar's Wheelbrightner on tires? I like using Wheelbrightner on the tires, in a way to sort of do one big drench of it on both wheels and tire.

Since it is acidic, and adverse effects on rubber?

Personally, I've never noticed any and I've been using Meguiar's Wheel Brightener for about 6 months now on clients and personal vehicles.

If you want a GREAT tire cleaner, try Top of the Line's Tire Cleaner cut 50/50 with water. I assure you will be amazed.

I'm not a chemist but acid based cleaners in general are pretty harsh on any finish...for tires I like a straight APC....I used acid wheel cleaners years back they do take the brake dust off quickly but the long term effect is not worth it...on my BBS rims it eat threw the anodized part of the rim after some years of cleaning on rubber I would have to think that its not good either...seems like it would eat at the natural oils in the rubber drying that out over time...IMO

would the acid do any damage to brake components...or start premature corrision of metal frame parts and suspension parts??...I would be concerned about that...I use APC or just soap and water and have done good so far..

I'm not sure what kind of "acidic cleaners" we're talking about here, but I use the EO stuff regularly on my own tires, and have been doing so fir quite some time. FWIW, I have never noticed any adverse effects on the tires. Actually, the only time I've ever had to replace tires is when the tread is worn out - the last set going about 66K miles, usually washed on a weekly basis. They still looked as good as new on the sidewalls.
