acid rain on windows

Hey everbody,

I need help! Down here in satan's armpit, we have extrodinarily hard water and acid rain. I've never really seen it so bad on glass and I can't seem to find or do anything to clean them properly. I've used the wool pad and compound method and it worked but it took way to long ('cuz you gotta spin slow so as not to smoke the glass ) and the wheel acid method but it didnt really work that good. So any trick tips or suggestions would be VERY helpful.....Thanks everyone

If it works for you, Diamondite just sent us the Spray Clay in a big 18oz. can!!!
They made the bigger size for the pros.

speaking along the subject of acid rain/water. It seems this year (for some unknown reason) I have been getting more cars in with water spots, on glass and finish. Call it what you want, acid rain, hard water, chemical water damage. I don't know how you moble detailers do it, but how do you stay out of the sun? some of my customers reluctantly have told me they wash their car in the sun. well, we all know that will cause problems fast. Clay seems to do ok on glass if it isn't etched into the surface. However, in the finish, thats another story. Yesterday on a Black Volvo it had water spots all over it. Even the diamond cut only improved it by 70%, any tips you guys have luck with, please share>

I'm actually NOT mobile, I have a shop but I do have to wash in the direct sun...it sucks but, I just keep the water running on the car at all times so it doesn't have a chance to dry till I'm ready.

I too am frustrated with water spots on the finish. Most of the time if you compound them you can't get all of them and end up leaving strips of water spots ....the only true way to get them all and look uniform is to wet sand. I always just use 2000 grit with soap and water as a lube. I'ts fast and easy and you won't hurt anything (much) as long as you stick with 2000. NEVER CROSS YOUR STROKES always keep them in the same direction either horizontal or vertical.

Here's my suggestion for washing. I don't have a drain in my GF's garage, so I use Protectall's Quick & Easy Wash, you don't need a hose. Just put some in a bucket of water then wash and dry. Super easy, effective and you don't get water all over the place. I wouldn't recommend it on an extremely dirty vehicle though. I think the Spray & Wash is similar although the spray bottle sounds even easier, Natty can probably tell you about it, mine is coming soon.
