According to Meguiars Scratch X is the least abrasive

I emailed there experts and asked them this. "which is the least abrasive?"

#9 swirl remover

scratch x

Medallion paint cleaner

swirl free polish

their response: Technically, all of these products are non abrasive but use what we call

"micro-abrasives". The least aggressive of all of the products is the

Scratch-X.

That is probably why Scratch X works well by hand. In other words it is not as hard to break down. It does feel less abrasive.

Thanks

I've used both Scratch-X and #9 within the last two weeks and from feel alone, #9 seems less abrasive. Just out of curiosity, I put a dab of each on my fingers and rubbed them together and Scratch-X certainly feels like it has more grit than #9.

According to their abrasiveness index, #9 and Swirl-Free Polish are less abrasive than Quick Detailer (the cleaner/wax, not Quik Detailer the consumer version of Final Inspection). I would think Scratch-X would need to be a little more abrasive than that just to do what it is supposed to do. I mean, it seems like common-sense would dictate that #9 and SFP would be less abrasive than MPPC and Scratch-X (S-X?). :nixweiss

Another straight answer from Meguiars...

They make good products, but getting reliable information from them is impossible. Arrgh!

It's like going into Home Depot....don't do it unless YOU know what you want and need.

My wife has minor scratches on her vehicle should i go with an all out polish or a sratch remover on the car?

Thanks

If they're visible scratches here and there, use Scratch-X, if they're swirls all over the car, use #9.... :nixweiss
