About to S100...needs some help

Okay, I went to the local Harley shop and bought some S100 Paste and the S100 Paint Ceanser. I have some pretty bad swirls in the paint and want to do the entire process right. Should I use a clay or the 3M Bug/Tar removal to start just by stripping the wax (there are probably 3 coats of Gold Class on it right now...) off. I plan on washing then maybe the Bug Tar then clay (if needed), then the S100 Paint Cleanser.

Now my real question is do I need a polish/glaze after the cleanser and before the S100 paste or can I just skip that and go to the paste? If I should use a polish, whats a good polish to complement it that I can readily get (I have access to the normal shelf stuff like 3M, Meguiars, Mothers, Zymol, etc... I want to do this today)

I've tried searching, I can't find a solid answer...

Hey Poole,

The S100 line is great but to get rid of the swirls, it'll take a bit more than the products you suggested.

1. Bug/Tar removal

2. Clay - will also help the bug removal.

3. Swirl Removal (depending their severity - with a Swirl Mark Remover (3M SMR or No. 9/Swirl Free Polish) or fine cutting compound (3M or Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner Polish). By hand or DA (if you have one).

4. Then a glaze or the SEC.

The Shine Enhancing cleanser is a nice final step before waxing but doesn't have abrasive's to deal with the swirls.

5. Paste Wax.

6. Quick Detailer or a follow-up with a spritz of distilled water and buff.

Happy detailing.

I agree, if you're confident your swirls are in the "pretty bad" category, I'd go straight to the DACP (or something of similar strength). SMR won't do much for anything worse than "mild" swirls.

Yep I concur I tried to remove swirls on my black accord with SMR and a white polishing pad and found that it did not remove all the swirls. I was going to step it up to a yellow pad but now that I think of it maybe a DACP is in order. good luck man
