I've been using OTC products mostly Meguiar's on my car and they have worked well until I saw what you guys do w/better products. I don't have a PC yet but my wife will be getting me one for my b-day in a couple of months and I will be getting these this week since most are on sale. I plan to do the following, what do you guys think? I don't want to buy anything I really don't need or if I need something else please let me know. Thanks for you help.

Here is what I plan on doing:

SSR 2.5 w/PC

Klasse AIO w/PC

EX-P w/PC

Natty's Blue by hand

Here's a pic of my car

Your car really looks pretty good now, don't expect a huge difference. I'm not sure of the value of the AIO in your process, most SSR2.5 users seem to think it finishes down acceptably for LSP (I haven't used it enough to say). You might just want to use SSR1 after the 2.5. I also don't know if you really want to apply the EX-P by machine; I have found it to stain trim rather badly (I have the older version, not the "EX-P+" that you will likely get now), and it doesn't show up for a few days.

Im a big fan of AIO, although I still have the ozone eating version. You might want to try the Clearkote RMG after the SSR step on that car ? Add some more wetness :)

You will need to invest in a pad kit with a backing plate once you get the PC. And some clay would be a good idea. Don't forget a nice selection of MF towels.

When I buy the PC I will buy it w/the SFX pads I heard they are really good pads. Thanks, I will try the EX-P by had first but I really don't have that much black trim. I know what you mean about getting it on trim, my wife's Explorer has lots of it. I'm still debating if I need to clay it or just start on top of the Meg's products I have on it right now. The paint is very clean and smooth all the time so I don't think I need to caly it, do I?

I am thinking of replacing the EX-P w/UPP but is it worth the extra $$ to step up to the UPP? Would it make a better combo for the color on my car?

I find the AIO to really be optional, especially if you're budgeting your detailing products. I'd probably either lose the AIO, as the 2.5 should leave an acceptible finish for you to apply your LSP, or replace it with a glaze, such as RMG.

I thought that after applying SSR2.5 it would required a pass w/SSR1 or AIO. If the SSR2.5 can be sealed w/out using anything else then I might try that out.

If your going to be polishing, I would really look into smaller 4" pads instead of the large SFX series pads. I've found the larger pads to be next to worthless when it comes to defect removal.

I would also glaze instead of AIO. I know that on my car I used both AIO and RMG, but I'm weird like that. RMG has cleaners in it, so it will perform the same tasks as AIO but it will leave behind look enhancing oils that AIO doesn't have.

Also, If your going to become the typical autopian, I would just leave the sealant out of the combo. I'm reapplying my LSP every couple of weeks so durability isnt a big deal. If your going to be the same way, I'd just skip the sealant step because it's durability would not be needed.

I'll look into the 4" pads maybe I can get both sizes. I have always looked at products for their durability but you are right I detail my car at least once a week. I always apply wax about every 3 weeks so I don't have to worry about durability. I'll start looking into the different glazes out there to see which one I like best. Thanks for you help!
