About how long does a coat of S100 last?

Average weather, a rainshower here and there, quick detailing to clean up the water spots etc, never a real wash though. Is it fairly durable?

There are so many variables when it comes to longevity of any type of wax finish... such as season, temperature, humidity, environment ( seacoast area, mountains, desert...urban, suburban or rural garaged or not, etc. etc.)

In other words...I don't know! LOL :D

Gotta agree..., durability is NOT it's strong point.

NHBFAN, just picked up a collection of KOTC, 10 DVD's, 101 fights, 20 hours for less that $30!!!

I "love" NHB and jiu-jitsu!

I have used S100 on my black Harleys for several years. I thought that the lack of durabilty was just my imagination. I usually hit the gas tank and fenders after every other ride so durability is not a consideration. It's about as fast to use on a bike as a QD.

I think that I'll not even attempt S100 on my black Ram pickup. Life is to short to spend the time waxing this monster every couple of weeks. So far I've used Meguiar's Medallion Premium Paint Protection on this "rig" and have been very pleased with the results. Easy on. Easy Off. Deep shine. Lasts a while.

when I was using s100, I felt that the slickness would last 2-3 days before it started feeling a little less slippery, and the shine and beading lasted another week or so before I noticed any deterioration there.

It noticed the just waxed feel and look. Lasts onlu 7-14 days then you dont see it but it still beads very well.

I waxed a red prelude about 3 weeks ago with s100. It rained yesterday and the hood was still beading nicely. Even though the car is slightly dirty, from far away the paint stands out really bright.

I'd say s100 can last from 4-6 weeks, which is the average.

Geeky Steve did a mini-test and s100/P21s was still beading after 4 weeks. Zaino also was beating but everthing else failed.

P21S beaded the full 8 weeks of the test. I find it beads on my customers cars a full 3 months. Most of my regulars want their cars waxed more often, but I have 3 who only get theirs waxed every 3 months (I wash them every 2 weeks, and one of them runs his car through the local car wash on the weeks I don't wash it) and when it is time to wax again, they are all still beading well and the shine is still there. Two of the cars are Lexus LS400s (a 95 & a 96) and the other is a '02 Tahoe.

Of course, we don't have acid rain or any appreciable industrial fallout in the Dallas area.

Thanks for the responses :) that's about what I had guessed too, not too durable. I use Clearkote's Quick Shine every other day or so, to keep that just waxed look/feel. It works very nicely with the S100; makes the paint nice and black and gives a good shine.

I don't know. I usually apply a coat of S100 wax every other week. :) It's so easy.

It looks great over Poorboy's EX. I also use Spray & Wipe between washes and use ClearKote's QuickShine QD. I just used Poorboy's QD+ and it is good stuff. Only difference from ClearKote's QuickShine QD is that it does contain wax.

Here are my steps. First I use Poorboy's Spray & Wipe to remove light dust. Then use ClearKote QuickShine QD to bring the paint to a nice gloss. And finally use the QD+ to give it a just wax look. I let the QD+ haze and buff it off with a micro fiber towel to a glossy shine. The paint looks and feels great!

Poorboy's, ClearKote, and S100 are all great products.

Can't say enough. They are all winners in my detailing arsenal.

For what it's worth, I waxed my Audi with SEPC and then S100 wax at the end of april, and I'm about to rewax it now. The car sits outside in the day, and in the garage at night.

On my BMW which sits outside all the time, it lasted only about 3-4 weeks. I am going to use 3M Wax on that next time around.

I do agree though, it loses that slickness feeling fairly quickly.
