Getting ready to use Cquartz for the first time tomorrow. I just wanted to know if the suede cloths can be cleaned and re-used, if so, what is best method?

Thanks

I just toss them because they start to harden up quick. You can maybe try to toss them in a few oz of APC 1:1 for a while and then maybe in with some vinegar and hot water before trying to wash? If it is still hard or still has CQUK on it after that then definitely toss them.

CQ and CQUK will crystallize in the MF applicators, so toss them after use.

The MF towels used to buff of any haze / high spots need to put into an APC soak and washed. Once washed make sure they are not hardened or crystallized before using them again on paint.

Reload is a water based sealant. It will not harden your towels.

Another question: How much should I use on a smaller car like a Pontiac G5? I got the kit that has 30 ml.

Are you doing paint only, or paint and wheels?

If your just doing paint you should easily get 2 coats out of 30ml. And I would suggest doing 2 coats for sure. To get the best out of the looks and durability.

Doing the wheels takes more than what some guys figure usually and I figure 30ml should do 1 coat on paint and wheels with possibly some left over to do the higher wearing areas.

For reference I did 3 layers of CQUK on the paint of a VW Jetta using a 50ml bottle. But I also applied it heavy.

Just paint. I used about 2/3 of the bottle, and I had a LOT of streaking, which took a very long time to remove with the Reload.

I then assumed I put it on too heavy, but you said you have used heavy coats. What is the method to reduce streaking? What is the trick to removing the streaking without so much effort?

It sounds like you applied it very heavy. I started with CQ original back when it came out so honestly I have never had any major issues with CQUK. I found that when applying it almost "melted" into the paint as I applied it and if there was any highs pots I simply reworked the area without adding product to the applicator. This tended to level everything and minimize the remaining high spots. I do know the temp and humidity have a lot to do with how it acts and removes. It sometimes takes some adjustments in application and removal time if it isn't flashing as fast.

Below is some good info on the application and removal of CQUK.

Hi
Streak happens if you wait too long with CQUK , there is no need to wait more then 1 min for wipe off, thats enough time.
if its hot day work on small sections .
applying it thick is possible but you need to wipe off quick as well.

if streaks happen , prime again some of the CQUK liquid on the applicator and apply it again over the streaks while its still fresh, it will remove them and you can wipe off after.

I bet you can get 2 coats out of the 30ml size. I have an 08 GTI and got an easy 2 coats (including 2 coats on the wheels and I a still have some left. The applicator Suarez will be toast, just toss them. I also found the best and easiest way to remove it after it flashed are those same microfiber suede' sin the towel version. They make the job MUCH, MUCH easier! Good luck!!

I was going by the instructions on the autopia site

"8)Use CarPro Reload 30 minutes to 1 hour after application to prevent streaking or spotting."

I applied the CQUK on the entire car, and then waited about an hour, so the first panel had sit for about 2 hours.

So you are saying after just a minute or two I can use the Reload?

No no no! Not Reload after 1 minute. And those direction are wrong(Paging vega :D) Basically each sections should be wiped up before moving to the next until you get the hang of it. So basically apply your section and work it in a criss cross pattern then remove after 30 seconds. Go around whole car until it is all coated evenly. If you want to add a second Layer(I did 3 IR cured between each coat because I'm insane) You could go right back to your starting point and proceed in the same fashion. On the second coat I found using less product was easier to remove while still getting good coverage. When your completely done and have a streak free finish(steaks can be leveled with a little more UK on an applicator applied and wiped immediately). Then wait an hour and hit it with reload to help with water spots during the curing process. Hope this helps!

OK, got it. Went and watched the video link on the first page, now it all makes sense. The next attempt should go a lot better.

How'd you get my beeper number?!

I checked the directions on the CQUK page and they look good to me. It just looks like they were misunderstood.

directions said:
Directions:

1)Wash the car and dry the car thoroughly.

2)Decontaminate the paint using CarPro IronX or similar product. Using detailing clay if necessary.

3)Polish the paint to the gloss you desire.

4)Remove any oils, waxes, or silicones from the paint using Car Pro Eraser.

5)Apply CQuartz CQUK to included applicator.

6)Spread product in a criss-cross or circular motion to ensure complete coverage. Continue to work a section at a time until the surface appears dry then buff any residue with a suede microfiber.

7)Repeat, a section at a time, until the entire car has been protected.

8)For best results, use CarPro Reload 30 minutes to 1 hour after application to prevent streaking or spotting.

9)CarPro CQuartz CQUK achieves maximum hardness 24 hours after application.

If the directions are followed in order, you should not be using Reload "after a minute or two".
