My GF's daughter is doing a project on Ellis Island for school. (she only 9)

Awesome! I went there on a field trip back in elementary school. I can still remember it.

Should go back it was fascinating.

I go around NYC all the time with my small boat and don't think I have recognized Ellis island 0.o ....... I'll have to make it a point to travel around.
 
My grandmother Szusanna arrived in 1909 and was DETAINED for 3 days in that hospital. Diagnosis was fever/strep throat.


Sick children from 12 years old or older were sent back by them selves to their home harbour. Children under 12 years old that were not allowed to stay in the US were forced to go back with one parent. Many tears were dropped when the parents should decide which parent that should stay and which parent that should go back with the sick child.

Things have changed since then. We now admit illegals to a hospital and give free treatment courtesy of the taxpayers.
We now issue driver's license to illegal immigrants and many Democrats are considering a legislation to permit illegal
immigrants to vote for them.
