A where to insert Optimum Polish question

Hi All,

Took my truck to the dealer for service and hoped they wash it for me using their "grimey" outdated "everything" proces, after the service.

Well , "be-low-me down" my truck now has swirls "galore" .. yippee !!

They washed it and really "swirled" it up.. Not to my surprise.

Now i can try my new combo .. So all is not yet lost.

I'm a tad confused of where to insert Optimum Polish and either VM or RMG into the line up.

I was going to attempt this..

Optimum Compound - Rotary 1000rpm orange pad

Optimum Polish - Rotary 1000 rpm orange pad

VM - pc , sonus green or blue pad , speed 4/5

RMG - pc, sonus green or blue pad speed 4/5

EX-P x 3 as my LSP - pc w/ black pad speed 4

Natty's Blue topper x 2 by hand

thanks for your suggestions..

Why not just wash one panel with a dirty wash mitt or something? You'd still have a swirled panel to try your new stuff on, but you wouldn't have to re-polish the entire vehicle. :nixweiss

I see that you edited your lineup. I wouldn't bother using both RMG and VM. One will remove the other. And I'd use a light polishing pad with either of them, not a cutting pad.

VA and RMG have abrasives in them, VM slightly more so. I really dont see an advantage of using a rotary with either VM or RMG, as Optimum polish will leave you sealant ready (SR, my new acronym, lol) Chances are your not going to leave any real worthy product behind with a rotary. Could be wrong though.....Unless your just playing with products, then its a go.....

OCC orange

OCP with green pad (unless the swirls are bad).

Skip the VM (because OCP with green pad's result alone should be ready to LSP (may not apply to dark color).

RMG blue pad (for extra deepth)

EX-P x1

Natty blue

My approach though. Should save you 1 hour or more of time.

I would try the polish first with the orange pad. You will find this will correct a lot. Move your speed up to 1400 rpm. This will save you a step.

Then try your blue pad with the Optimum Polish with the rotary.

You should be ready for wax or a sealant after this.
