A vote for Trade Secret

I know this thread is worthless w/o pics but workin' on that:D .

I had been using EX-P for awhile and really liked it, it had good durability and made nice clear reflections and that dipped in oil look on my True Blue metallic paint and made the flakes stand out. Well I was bored and decided to top with some trade secret I had lying aroud. I had been disappointed with the overall look after looking at some of the darker colored rides with metallic around here and was getting jealous:o . I was burned out on sealants by themsleves if at all. Don't get me wrong Zaino, EX-P, Klasse, Blackfire all great products but for a darker finish just not enough. I came to realize that a darker finish deserves carnuba or atleast a topper of it. All I can say is wow Trade Secret darkened the paint, got extremely wet, had great reflections and made the mettalic flake pop which is sometimes hard to do. Its either mute the metallic for wetter darker paint or make flake pop and look clear. Got alittle heavy handed on the roof and hood and it left a haze I saw the next day that was a bear to buff out. Otherwise easy on and off.

I know this product gets comparisons to Souveran for the price cannot compare cause I cannot see shelling out 60 bucks for one wax, but 30 bucks is reasonable for this stuff especially after the look it gave me, plus if I remeber correctly Pinnacle makes top of the lines TS. People have been getting neckhead from me (breakin' necks by turning heads:) ) So I can rant all day about it but I gotta give it a :woot: :woot: .

I know just what you mean about being burned out on just a sealant. I've used WG, EX-P, UPP, & GW in the past year and while they leave a good shine it's just a bit too sterile.

So I finally tried out a carnauba (DP Maxwax) a couple of weeks ago and realized what I've been missing out on all this time. It adds so much more depth and warmth to the paint. I've been getting looks too since using it which I think is something for a metallic gray. I mean I like the color but it's not your usual head turner. I'll never be without a good 'nuba again.

Trade Secret is at the top of my wax arsenal along with FK1 Pink Wax. It's truly an underdog. It gets no play sitting in Souveran's shadows all the time. I will get to comparing them one day :).

Nice to see Trade Secret getting some much deserved attention. It's a quality nuba!

I totally agree ! It is a large calibre bullet in my arsenal !:xyxthumbs

I use Trade Secret on top of SG. I like the look. But I'm thinking about stripping and toppins SG with UPP. I want to see how it would look on my smoky gray Titan.

So you'd put TS and FK1 Pink above Natty's? I've never used TS or FK1 but have extensive experience with Natty's. Natty's is the first nauba I've liked over light metallics (most kind of mute the flakes out.)

The thing that impressed me most was that the beading doesn't die within a couple weeks. Good looks and good durability. And easy on/off. What more could you ask for? :)

maecrispy: Yes. I feel the FK1 and Trade Secret give more character...ie: warmth, depth, pop of flake and color. I really need to try them side to side. Natty's is an excellent wax, I just feel Trade Secret and FK1 have a slight advantage.

Good enough for me. Time to try TS. :xyxthumbs

sorry to revive an old thread...

sean - i believe you've dabbled with natty's blue since this response...what's your opinion on TS and FK1 vs Natty's B. now?

I use "Black Velvet" from TOL which is supposed to be formulated like TS but for black cars. I never did buy into the hiding flaws bit but it leaves one hellava shine. Plenty of depth and gloss.

My only probelm is I keep getting streaks when applying it or I apply too much (makes it hard to remove)

how do you apply your Black Velvet? since changing to a Pinnacle/Wolfgang Polishing Pal, i've found that i apply pastes more evenly and thinly than when i used a foam wax pad. but that might just be my case. have you tried applying with a PC?

I second that vote for TS. I bought it on sale from PAC and was very impressed. One of the things I really like about this wax is it's ability to resist dust build up. On my Mom's black 05 GT is blew me away, it took a long time to create a little bit of dust on the paint!!
