a under carrage cleaner that works?

What really works at getting rid of the road residue without having to physicly touch it. maybe I'm dreaming.

Simple green and a pressure washer.

Suggestion: do it at one of those "you wash it" places so their recycling systems get the gunk rather than your sewer.

Anything so potent that it'll clean undercarriages without agitation would be too potent for my taste.

I just use APCs most of the time, but for an initial cleanup, you might try solvents if things are really greasy under there.

Once you get the undercarriage clean, it's pretty easy to keep it that way. I just use brushes and/or old mitts. Do it at every wash and it'll never get too bad.

I use Orange Blast degreaser to clean the undercarriage. My undercarriage, well the rear wheel wells were pretty badly soiled, literally caked in crap. I had to use the orange blast multiple times and a pressure washer and a nice brush to get it all out. But like Accumulator said, once they are clean, just maintaining them is rather easy.

ardex purple rush is very potent dsegreaser that will do the trick.

Where do you even buy ardex stuff? I saw their website and they literally just have a text list of their products, no pictures, no detailed description, usage etc...

Their store is in Philly. I think you have to call if you want to order, but they are terrible at calling you back.

Surf City Grime Destroyer. Clearcoat safe, unbelievable results. I am starting to buy it in bulk now.

Just got some SCGD to use on the lug nut holes. Hope it works as nothing I've tried thus far has worked.

SCoach,

Where can you purchase it in bulk? I've only seen the 2 liter bottles for $19.99.

Sorry, I'm a hobbyist. For me, a 2 liter IS bulk! LOL :)

Considering I cut it 3:1 and could probably cut it 5:1 for most applications, a 2 liter will last me for 6 months to a year. Not bad for $20.

ARO works well.

My rear wheel wells are painted, but I never cleaned them. At the last wash they looked like a dark brown. I actually had no idea they were painted, I thought it was black but just dirty.

I sprayed some ARO on it and let it dwell for a while. I sprayed it down with a garden pump sprayer only to reveal that they're actually painted silver. I sprayed the ARO again and agitated them and they worked even better.

This was with a pump sprayer so I'm sure if you used a pressure washer the effect would be more dramatic even without aggitation.

To be honest though, I don't know how much better ARO is compared to a quality degreaser.

While I cannot comment on the accuracy of the statements in this link, it does offer some insight into things that you might find interesting...

And I hope I am not running afoul of any rules by posting that link here. If I am, then hopefully a mod will alert me to the fact.

Thanks.
