A Sonus Warning!

OK, I was bored. It's wet and cold (for Florida, 48 degrees).

The interior wood on my BMW has spiderwebs and a few scratches, and I just got a new (for me) product to try, Sonus SFX-2.

So, I figured I would try it on the plastic covered wood, or whatever it is. Took a MF towel, rubbed a small dab of product with light to medium pressure on the wood for 20 seconds, removed, O- NO!:scared :shocked . Now the wood has more spider webs, and the glossy look is dulled! I immediately treated area with AIO and Scratch X. They both helped some, but I can still notice some dullness.

So, beware. Don't use Sonus on interior wood. The product was not at fault, I was. The product is for paint, not plastic covered wood . :nono

But I have had great success using products outside their intended purpose...until now.

Sorry, no pictures. They really don't show the residual damage.

Any ideas on what I can use to restore the high gloss on the wood??

Thanks for the suggestions!! I had Plexus on hand, after the AIO, it seemed to finish off the dullness pretty good. I would say it is 95% back to normal.

Don't you know, everytime I get in my car now, I will be looking at that spot!:o :doh

The wood trim in most vehicles (Mercedes Benz uses real wood) is protected with a urethane clear coat, polyurethane or a thin lacquer, which is very easily scratched. Remove scratches with a fine polish (Groit's Fine Hand Polish) and then wipe with a damp 100% cotton towel.

Maintenance- use an anti-static plastic cleaner protectant (BTI Chemicals Plexus@ Glass Polish & Cleaner)
