A real challenge....

Ok...I'm a bit nuts and OCD. But, I can't stand loking at the dull, black streeked finish any more....

My wife's Sundowner 777 horse trailer is three yrs old. It sits outside all the time. I wash it off for her every few months just to keep it white not brown.

The paint is starting to oxidize now. I cleaned up all the Alum bright work and diamond plate today, but the paint really needs to be polished and sealed. I can see me and my porter-cable are gonna get a work out. The paint is not clear coat.

I'm thinking a pre-wax cleaner then a synthetic sealer/wax? I need the protection to last for as long as possible since it will be a year before i even think about doing this again...:scared:

Thoughts?

thx

Well, you might give a WOWA sealant a try, such as UPGP, ZCS, or OS, just so you dont have to go back and buff it all off. Thats what a lot of the RV/airplane guys do.

As to the paint cleanser, the only one I have in my arsenal is the Sonus offering so Im not very knowledgeable in that field. For all the positive attention TW ICE Liquid clay has gotten, you might give that a shot

If its oxidized, IMO, its much better to use a chemical heavy cleaner before polishing or Megs #66 (or colorX in a pinch). Its a waste of time to polish oxidation when you can remove it chemically. Also see my post about the ICE liquid clay, its a decent first step on oxidized paint of you put a little elbow into it.
