Vehicle: 2005 Monte Carlo SS (supercharged)
Description:
Vehicle had moderate to severe oxidation on the hood due the the Arizona sun and elements. Civicwil was already helping out but had to run out and get something. I saw the owner using NuFinish Scratch remover in an effort to get rid of the oxidation but the product was not even making a dent. I ran back and broke out the UDM.
:buffing:
I started attacking this using Pinnacle Swirl Remover on a Swirlbuster pad with the UDM on 6. It started getting some results but I could still see oxidation present. Before Civicwil returned, I went back and got the bin with the PC 7428 rotary inside. Civicwil returned and brought over his detailing bag which contained IP and Griot's Machine Polish.
Long story short, we had to attack the hood 5-6 times with BOTH rotary and UDM in order to get the hood looking good. I would start out using IP with the rotary and SB pad at ~1200 rpm. Civicwil followed with UDM and Griot's. I followed that with the Sonus Claybar, Klasse AIO, SG. The owner and my wife followed with P21S wax while Civicwil used Speed Detailer on the rest of the car.
.....and now....the photos which were taken by my wife and her D70.
