A neat finding of S100/Fusso, Dust and Beads...

For me, 2 things wrecks a detail job in Manila... Dust and Dirty Rain...

It's summer right now so let's deal with dust... I'll review the rain durability in a couple of months when the typhoons starts coming in weekly.

For years, I've contended with dust adhesion from Meg 26 and 3M SCPW, both are good waxes but both have good tendencies to attract dust and allows dust to sit on top of them, so when light rain drops fall, little round muddrops appear all over the car.

Hate that....

Then Fusso came along, tried it... and dang, it has got to be the most dust repelling product I've used in years... Now, I can't compare it with AIO coz it's been years since I've used it... And I've always believed that any non-side-by-side comparo will never be helpful...

The last time I clayed and polished the car was about 2 months ago, I think, so my car is kinda swirly now (but clean, nonetheless) and still has a good gloss...

I applied Fusso 3 days ago (Monday) to the whole car... then 2 days ago, my S100 arrived... I tried applying S100 to HALF of the car... half the hood, half the trunk and all of the right side of the car... The left side, I left alone with the Fusso. No QD or anything after last Tuesday. Note that S100 is just a topper for the Fusso for now.

Yesterday, I left the car in our usual sahara desert parking in front of our office... This is what happened.

You can clearly see the line in the middle of the trunk. That's where the S100 stopped during my wax session... The other half is just Fusso...

The pic doesn't show it well, but I'll repost some pics later this afternoon or tomorrow...

Basically, S100 attracted more dust than Fusso... about 20% more dust than Fusso, Fusso also "shedded" more dust after a short drive (from Ortigas to our shop in Araneta).

But compared to 26 and SCPW, S100 is less "dust attractive" by at least 30-50%... I mean, usually with 26, my car will be a LOT more dusty than that....

So just to do another experiment, I waxed 1/4 of the trunk (where Fusso side is) with Meg 26 last night... So the trunk (and hood) basically has 1/2 S100, 1/4 Fusso and 1/4 26... Let's wait nalang...

I'm very happy with S100's properties so far as a wax...

Just when you thought that "Bah, S100 isn't as good as Fusso..." hold your horses... Later that night (before putting 26 swatch), I washed the car... I just wanted to see which beads more... and boy, did I see a surprise... I was waiting for beads, but I got more than I bargained for.

I know that Fusso provides great protection and the beads are always tall and round... I expect S100 to do the same.... and it did... but something followed that surprised me... After beading, the weight of the water will cause the bead to run off the surface. And my slickness expectation of S100 held up... S100 side sheeted more water off the surface than Fusso... a significant amount if you see it first hand...

Here are some proofs... (sorry if the pics aren't that good, lotsa mosquitoes at around midnight)...

Remember that passenger side = S100, Driver side = Fusso) Just check the number of beads per sq. ft.

Note the area near the lower edge of the hood.

Note the upper corners of the trunk near the rear glass.

Note the bead counts near middle of the hood.

Another Trunk shot.

It's a bit outta focus, but it's quite clear that the areas near the washers exhibit big discrepancies in beading/sheeting action.

Your call... :) Both are great, though... and I'm sure Fusso will outlast S100 by at least 2-3 weeks, but the 2 combined is really great...
