A Genocide of Swirl Marks!!

So I have had the toughest time finding the right product to remove the moderately deep swirls in my '05 Corolla. We also own a red Toyota Matrix and the paint on it is fairly soft but not the paint on the Corolla. Maybe it is because of the color but it was pretty tough to get anything to work. I tried OP, OC, OHC, Meg's 80, and Duragloss Swirl Remover. They worked very little and didn't give me the results I was looking for. They were all applied by PC with an Orange LC pad, but didn't cut enough. So next I tried Menzerna Power Gloss, and boy did it do the job! The final pics aren't that good because the sun was going down but I definitely achieved at least 90% swirl removal with one pass on each section. This stuff is awesome and it didn't leave me any marring or hazing, which is amazing for a compound!

Before: (It was like this over the ENTIRE CAR)

A few after shots, I will get more tomorrow when it is sunny!

I know those pics don't show good shots of the de-swirled paint but I will get better ones tomorrow in the daylight!

Good job, though the befores look very light in terms of swirl-age to me--at least compared to most cars.

And yes, interesting color too.

That is a very interesting color i have a 04 corolla black im going to look into the Menzerna.

It came out great man good job. :goodjob

Those were very minor swirls...I'm surprised it took you powergloss to get them out..I wonder if you weren't working the product long enough or if that clear is just that hard...? Ok I'm gonna go against the politically correct part of the forum and just say it - damn that's a wierd color! :) Not bad at all!

The pictures really don't show them to be as bad as they were. I definitely worked the products in plenty long enough, that was for sure. As far as the color, I definitely love it. It has a lot metallic flake and in bright sunlight it really glitters out and is gorgeous. It's a really rare color from Toyota and you don't see it that often, at least around here.

PG is a very good product, I got almost LSP ready when I compound with wool and PG. On darker cars I always follows with a polish like PO106FF or PO85RE5.

Nice work!

Wow, I am surprised OHC didn't work out for you. It is the top compound for PC use in my arsenal, basically chews up defects and spits them out, all with a long working time and no dust. Make sure you follow it up with something more mild, that should really make the paint pop.

The OHC worked, but not quite as well as the PG. I can definitely tell OHC would be a great product for a little bit lighter swirls. I just liked PG for this application because it only took me one pass to do it.
