A friend needs help please!

Ok, I got a call just now from a friend of mine who has a awesome red 69 Mustang all custom. He has 2001 Stang suspension and a 4.6L in it. I guess he tried to get down his lawn equipment and knocked over a 16 ounce can of primer and it is all over the side of the car. He said he tried to hose it fof real fast but it was already set up. I told him to start with clay but what do you all recommend for this?

Time to bust out the solvents (minieral spirits, paint thinner, etc) and see if that works. The fact of the matter is that not all boo boos can be fixed without a trace. He is going to have to use some rough solvents to scrape that primer off. The whole purpose of primer is to bond to the surface. It very well might take the paint off with it as you try to remove it. He may be looking at a new paint job. Have him take the car to a body shop and get an estimate. If he's insured then I'm sure he'll just pay a deductible and get it sorted out.

sorry to hear of his misfortune. brdman is much more knowledgable and experienced than me but I guess you could start with clay and see what results you get . Medium grade clay would be better . The red one . Is it a fine mist that swide spread or a big spray mark with drips.? ( ouch! )

Even if he tries to correct it and is unsuccessful he can still make an insurance claim as he is at fault no matter what ..

Clay is not going to take the primer off. The solvents are the only choice. Laquaer thinner is one that I have had great results with but its hard on the finish. I would head for a body shop to let a pro have a look this is going to be a big job.
