A Feyn-tastic G37Xs

This customer was a referral and agreed to have Feynlab Ceramic applied to the paint and the wheels removed and coated with Feynlab Wheel & Caliper coating. There were a few nasty chips and one long scrape that needed repairing too.

Here it is as it arrived:

First up was the wheels. The barrels were cleaned with Zep Citrus and a Daytona brush along with HD Pink soap. The faces got the same. The wells were cleaned with LATA and the tires with Zep 505. The car was washed with HD Pink soap. It was then brought inside and clayed with Riccardo blue and Prime as lube. Here is the paint ready for correction in its true state:

Now onto the wheels. They had been refinished recently so they weren`t very dirty. A quick ONR cleaning followed by DG squeaky clean did the trick on the barrels. They were coated with DLux. The calipers and faces were coated with Feynlab`s Wheel & Caliper coating. The plastic front wells were also coated with DLux. Here`s one in progress:

The paint was compounded with M100. TLC was not aggressive enough for this car. I had also tried my Amerirocks too and it also was not aggressive enough. In some areas the paint was thin so I didn`t want to be very aggressive. This was to be a balancing act between correction and paint integrity. The M100 was used with my 3401 and a 3D black wool pad. That was followed by Reflect + yellow B/S and the last step was M205 + white LC pad.

For coating, Ceramic was used. I had read about using Ceramic Lite as a removal aid. I tried it and loved it. It gave a much slicker feel than Ceramic alone and I swear the gloss was better too. Even though the cost of materials is higher doing it this way, CL is not an expensive product and for me, the benefits far outweighed the cost of using it. This will be my method from now on. The headlights and tail lights were also polished and coated as were the exhaust tips.

Thanks kindly for looking. This took 21 hours and change.

Richie, as always a fantastic finish. I`m not sure if the Ceramic Lite but you really see the multiple flake color in the paint. How much difference is applying the Feynlab Ceramic to the Lite?

As always, thanks for sharing and happy belated Canada day.

Thanks kindly! We enjoyed the vacation with family and jointly celebrated my parents` 55th wedding anniversary.

It is easier to use the Lite as a removal aid than just using Ceramic alone. Lite is their easiest product to apply. It`s so easy, even a Richy can do it!!

As always, BEAUTIFUL.

21 hours work, or ? Does that include touch up cure, and coating cure or ???

Nice work Richy, what a transformation! You did a great job capturing defects in your photos! That paint really pops

Beautiful! The "metal flake" in that color really pops!

Question though, does the Zep 505 make you cough your head off? We use that cleaner at work in an industrial environment and sometimes the mist is unbearable!

Thanks very much Ron! It was pretty much everything. I start moving the heat lamp around when I am coating the car. When I finish up and the last few panels need their IR bath, I am usually cleaning up the garage for that time period so I don`t count it per se.

Thanks man! I use the manual focus on the lens to capture what I need to. It works WAY better than leaving it on auto and having your camera decide on what it wants to focus on. It`s a gorgeous colour, no doubt!

Thanks! I cut 505 4:1 so not really. I make my Citrus mix stronger and it will make me cough. The worst ever was their purple...cough in a bottle, LOL!

Wow. Malbec black is NOT and easy color to bring back.

Awesome job. Owning an Infiniti myself I`m feeling very incompetent at cleaning my exhaust tip.

Please share the process and products because I just thought Infiniti tips such and cannot be made to shine like you made those !

Dam, I must need more products and Skill !

Awesome job.

Thanks kindly! I`ll share a tip I learned from a forum member called JL many years ago...wheel acid! I always clean nasty exhaust tips first with wheel acid (I use either Wheel Brite or BAM) along with the small Daytona brush on both the inside and outside. I follow that up with Zep Citrus. That cleans so much of the crap away it is amazing. The next step is to hand polish with Megs 205 and a microfiber. I buff it like shining a shoe, LOL...it works! Then I coat it. That`s it.

I really appreciate the tip how to clean up the exhaust. I am off to the autoparts store to get some wheel acid. I have not messed with that stuff in over a decade.

Thanks and I`ll let you know how I make out.

Nicely done sir! Just started on a jet black 2010 g37x coupe for correction and IGL Quartz+. Going to take some work bringing it back but coming along.

Love the color of that G37! The metallic is sweet!
