A few details from last week...

Clean Dean

Keep it clean !!!
We had been blessed with some nice weather here in Central New Jersey, and with it my phone rang off the hook with customers looking for that showroom shine again that has dulled out over the past long winter months. I had my digital camera with me all last week, and figured I’d share some of the vehicles that gave me the most satisfaction.

The first complete detail last week was this 05 Range Rover which I have been personally maintaining since new. It is a daily driver, and I have hand washed this car weekly and although the car is pampered it did spend much of this winter in Vermont where the roads are covered in salt and heavy sand. The exterior was clayed and then buffed with Hi-Temps HCL then followed with 3M’s Ultrafina and a green foam pad. The Range Rovers soft clear leveled out nicely before being sealed with Klasse SG. This SUV has over 40k miles, and you could not tell by the wheels that are cleaned weekly. These Range Rover wheels sport Brembo brakes and can easily become a nightmare if not cleaned regularly.

Next up was this 06 Mercedes Benz SL 600. This car is gorgeous !!! I previously detailed this car last fall, and was driven lightly over the winter months. After washing and claying, I buffed the exterior with 3M Ultrafina (all it needed) and sealed with Klasse SG.

Interior was thoroughly cleaned top to bottom and all leather surfaces was treated with Lexol after cleaning.

Next up was this 2002 Chevy Corvette Z06. After a wash and clay, the paint needed a pretty heavy cut again with Hi Temp HCL and follow once again with 3M Ultafina. I sealed this car also with Klasse SG.

Last but not least was this 05 Ford Mustang GT in metallic red. I simply loved this color and after the same treatment as the Z06 the paint really had that pop !!!

Thanks for looking !!!

Can you provide detail on how you cleaned up the engine on the mustang?

Pretty easy detail on this engine. First remove debris around windshield by hand (usually leaves and a accumulation of other light debris). Then start the engine and let run a few minutes. Turn off the engine and lightly powerwash, then spray down with APC diluted 3:1. Next I use an old wash mit and clean off the painted areas. Power wash again. Apply a coat of water based dressing diluted 2:1. Start engine and let run about 10 minutes. After the engine has cool again, wipe off painted areas and excess dressing with an old MF towel.

Clean Dean;

total newbie here...what is APC?

Can you recommend a good rubber 'restorer'?

I recall seeing a detailer using a thin paint-like stuff that left a beautiful satin black over any old, discolored rubber - anything like that around still?

thanks!

Amazing work Dean! I always love your C&Bs. You can't go wrong with KSG on reds like that Mustang. They all look awesome.

Your work speaks for itself, which is good...cause I've run out of adjectives that adequately describe it! :goodjob
