A few comments on banning

First off, the members that have been banned were not a problem for me when they were here.
By the same token, they have not been a problem for me when they aren't.

But, keep in mind that how things are done on the site is strictly in the hands of the owner of the site. He can basically do whatever he wants with no explanation to anyone. If an explamation is given, fine. It isn't required, though.
For my part, I figure it isn't going to happen unless the administrator has what in his view is a good reason. Whether or not I agree with it is not a factor.
Personally, if I find the posts of an individual offensive, I don't bother to read them, much less bother to respond.
Same way with a site. If I don't feel comfortable or welcome there, I don't post there.

One last thing, (for now:D). IMO, once it is done, that should be the end of it. There is no need to gloat or badmouth anyone after they are gone.

I have to agree with every word that you have said. (Though I did get a good laugh at few T-Shirts lately..)

I would like to add that I wish banning wasn't even an issue or necessary.

I do feel that Detail City has remained a civil and informative forum because certain people have been stripped of their rights to be a member here and because we take a no BS approach to moderation.

The reason I take such a hard stance is that I have a full time job and Detail City is my personal site so I just don't have time to deal with people that cause trouble.

We have ALOT of members that are good people, follow the rules and make Detail City a great place and I wish everyone could follow their example.

I'll :beer drink to that!!! This is the number one reason why I enjoy posting here! This website is probably the most informitive website I know of. When you post even the most stupid question like (IE: My windshield is dirty. How do I clean it?) I think of Detail City as the "Teaching forum" everyone here is willing to help one another out!

A messeage to all members!! Thanks! Ive gone from detailing challanged to detailing fanatic in just a few months! My friends and family think Im a crazed lunitic! But When I finish detailing thier cars they all say the same thing! It's too clean to drive!

Seriously tho, I don't have time for offensive people. I've worked hard all my life and intend to enjoy the rest of it without spending even a small bit of time with people who I don't like.

If you can't be courteous, go somewhere else.

I think I'm going to join the whaler's team, I'll hide behind him, you wouldn't even notice I'm there :LOLOL
 
People sometimes forget, (or never learn) that free speech doesn't mean that you have the right to be rude or attempt to force your opinion on someone else. I often disagree with people, both here and elsewhere. I do want to hear differing points of view, just not rudeness. Thanks to the moderators for keeping these forums civil.

Seriously though, this board is Dwayne's property. We are all guests here and should follow the house rules. I liken it to being invited to a dinner party at a person's home. If I started insulting the host, or making obnoxious comments to the other guests, I would expect to be quickly shown the door and never invited back.

Personally, I like the fact that politeness is required for membership here. :)

Those with bad table manners are usually escorted to the door by my bouncer Tyrell.

Please make sure when you have us all over for dinner , there's plenty of cake for groebuck, yoohoo for Clean Dean, Crispy Creme's for Natty, lots of food in general for the Whaler, diet coke for me:D and plenty of SPAM for the banned:lmfao :rolling ...and plenty of fine ladies to serve all this :naughty for the Fuzz :)

Well, I think Charles is a pretty easy going guy, and his approach is probably a good one. However, I'm just not the type of person who can ignore "jerks"! So, I say that someone who deserves to be banned should first be taken out behind the woodshed, and given a severe "beating"................. and then banned! :D

Just to think................ some say I'm a bit of a "crude" guy............ go figure? :lmfao

I have much respect for both you and Charles so I tend to adopt both approaches depending on the situation.
