A detail with Optimum Poli-Seal

Just did a detail with Optimum Poli-Seal for the first time. Awesome.... The sealant literally just disappeared into the paint. It turned out very slick. I'm a generally a nuba guy but Poli-seal is impressive.

I just did the wife's silver Mazda Tribute yesterday with Poli-Seal and a green Uber pad. Took out some minor marring, some stains on the lower rockers- have no idea what it was - and some scuff marks around the gas tank. Worked great and very easy to use. Left a very slick finish. Looks great on Silver.

Topped with 845. Great combo.

I absolutely love Poli-Seal. As you mentioned, it disappears into the paint and leaves a nice warm 'nuba look. Plus, because there's virtually nothing left on the paint after working it, I can go straight to Opti-Seal w/o wasting time wiping off the paint. PS also has excellent chemical cleaners in it. My buffing pads always come away looking very dirty. PS is a great product and is very economical since a little goes a long way. I'd highly recommend it to anyone that hasn't already tried it.

I used to be a 3M guy when I did body work and that was all I used for compounds, polishes, etc. Then I got into mobile detailing and tried out Optimum Polishes, compounds, and sealants and will not go back (well I will still keep UltraFina from 3M in my arsenal of polishes for sure). They dont dust, they work great in the sun and add great protection along with cleaning. If you clay bar, lightly buff and polish and then finish with Poli-Seal and Opti-Seal, man the paint will be slicker than butter and feel great. Nothing will or should stick to the paint either and if it does it washes right off with the hose and a quick hit of the microfiber.

I usually use the Opti-Seal a little heavier than recommended so it hazes slightly and let it sit and then wipe it all down with Obsessive Details Waterless wash with Carnauba wax...

IIRC (not sure about the new labeled bottle) Poli-Seal has a nuba component to it??

No it does not have nuba in it. I just said I usually like nuba's better than sealants. Sorry for the confusion

My bottle of Poli-Seal from about 2 years ago clearly states that it contains: water, mineral spirits, silicone fluid & CARNAUBA WAX.

I think that its probably better for paints that are in great shape and need minimal correction.

IIRC, it's a combination of polymer sealant and carnauba. I believe the info can be found on the Optimum board if it's not on the label of the PS bottle.

Regarding paint correction, it only has mild abrasives (about 1/2 the cut of the original OP) so if you're looking for a lot of paint correction, this isn't the product you want to use. PS will clean up light swirls, but that is dependent upon the pad you use and the hardness (or lack there of) of the paint.

Maybe they changed it but I'm not confused. I have a bottle and it says on it clear as day "Carnauba wax".

As does mine hence my post.

The formula hasn't changed has it?

I love Poli-Seal, use it on nearly every detail. Can't beat the ease of use, cleaning ability and looks. Top with OCW and you have an awesome warm nuba' look.

FWIW OPS/OCW lasts better than OS, although OS does a great job of keeping my non-garaged car looks very clean between washes.

So it does contain nuba. My bad. I got so much detailing stuff its unreal. No wonder it looks so good and finishes out so well.

Poli-Seal is a great product, as is the Optimum line. I like all of it.

Just, for my information, what pad do you folks typically start with.....no more aggressive than white.....or do you go with black/gray and leave it that way? I know it depends on the correction level you desire, but since Poli-Seal is very light to start with, I assume that using a very light correction pad for late model/good paint finishes is probably the best.

Just curious, as I see the reference to the Uber green pad......which I "assume" matches up with the light polishing green Lake CCS pad (not sure of that)?

Thx.

See ya. :wavey:

if you are needing correction work, PS is not what you need to reach for! Its a light cleanup/gloss enhancer product, I get very little defect removal if any, if its not just filling the minor stuff in...

I will use it when I have some extra time after a two step, but usually I dont have the extra 30-40 min it takes to use over 845

So your using PS over 845 ??? Shouldn't you use it under 845 ???

Yes, I have Optimum Compound & Polish II's for correction. Just wondering, based on PS's "light clean-up/gloss enhancing" (AIO) capabilities if you go as aggressive as white or stick to black/gray (or less)??

I actually got some pretty decent correction with the green Uber pad. on silver Mazda paint. Nothing major - but the paint was decent to begin with.

I'm not sure how it matches up to the LC pad. It's Uber's "main" polishing pad if that helps.

Makes a great finishing polish, one step on paint in already good condition or as a base for carnaubas or Opti-Seal. Definitely one of my favorite products.
