Very very nice pics! :xyxthumbs

What was your prep? I'm sure others would love to know.

Don't ya just love how slick it is? When I had just Zaino on the SC430, the CBT towel would just glide all over it! Very slick!

Keep it up!

Prep was

1)Dawn

2)Menzerna Polish with Simoniz Cordless orbital

3)50/50 Alcohol/water more Menzerna till happy

4) Z5 x 2

5) Z2 x 2

Ah yes, Gluezerna er a Menzerna! Used it on my SC430 after PIII-MG. The FP with a finish pad really burnished the finish to a mirror!

Just topped my SC430 with Souveran Paste. I was reaching for my Z18 clay and grabbed the Souveran by mistake. I thought, what the hell? Two coats later, looks really wet and nice! I miss the slickness of the Zaino though. My CBT towel used to slide all over the finish with just Zaino. Was very bright. More reflection and lighter.

Souveran added more depth. Kind of like a wood table with lots of Pledge on it. A little darker, richer.

I have to polish it again anyway, so I'll use the Zaino as allways. I look at it this way. I now have a "sacrifical" layer! Nice though!

Deanski

Jesstzn: What can I say. It is just perfect. :bow

Deanski: Pictures. Pictures. Pictures.

We want pictures.

I received QS by mail so I went to wash my vette to use it over my Zaino/P21S.

I can only say wow! wow! :bow

I can not wait for the weekend after I received all my purchase (PC, pads, MF, Clearkote and #9). I will work on my vette and truck and I will post pictures.

OK, now I'm getting psyched for the arrival of my gallon of QS!

Yea, I know.. pics! Weather is turning bad and I want a sunny day so it's close to the last set I had with just Zaino on it so everyone can see the difference.

You're gonna love the PC! Wait till you see how well the finish will look after all the swirls are gone. If they are light #9 should do the trick. If it is slow or not much being removed with a white polish pad, switch to the cutting pad, then back to the polish pad with #9. You could also use 3M PIII-MG and a cutting pad, followed by the #9 and white polish pad. Further polishing with finer polish will keep getting it more mirror like. I've used Menzerna FP or Megs Hand Polish. Still, #9 is fine to end with if you're going to Clearkote and if you have VM, use that after #9 and B4 the CM and watch out for the high gloss!

Come on UPS... I want that QS! :p

Jesstzn:

Very confusing.

Isn't Zaino supposed to give that candy, plasticy shine?

Your car has a deep reflective and shiny look. Are you sure it's Zaino? :p

Seriously, it looks really, really great!

Yeepers ... its Zaino ... wanna see my recipt ... ferking stuff is expensive up here in CanuckLand

The plastic look people get with Zaino stems from bad surface prep and oils left on the finish for the most part. It reacts with Zaino and creates a somewhat bright clouding effect making look like Saran Wrap.

As long as you take as much time getting a finish to mirror gloss prior to Zaino and remove ALL oils, Zaino just refects much better & brighter than a wax which absorbs light.

I just topped my Red SC430 that has many coats of Zaino on it with Souveran Paste. It looks deeper in color, more rich (light being absorbed) and wet. Zaino reflects light better, so the finish looks bright as hell. I did one quater panel in half just so I could see the difference. If I had a light meter, that would better judge the nature of both.

Looks pretty nice now with the Souveran on it! Souveran looks great on dark cars!

One item: After the Souveran, finish is not as slick as it was with Zaino. My CBT and DF towels used to slide all over it! Now, it doesn't have that slippery effect.

BTW, I just got my Megs supplies in: Gallon of FD, DACP, SWP, ACP+ and 32oz Hand Polish. Just tried FD on the Souveran... NICE! Like it beter than FI! Still waiting for my gallon of Clearkote QS! Oh, the FD smells a bit different than FI. Neat stuff that FD!

Id like to try Souveran one day but I have a shop full of wonder waxes now and by the time I got it to CanaDUH it would be $100.

I been looking up here for the Megs FD (D-51) but can't find it .. Does it only come in Gallons?? If so Geeezzzzzzzzzzzzz that would be $47 million up here .. I'd like to try the FD , I have poor luck with QD sprays with the finish I have on the car they seem to eventually haze in an hour or so and at an angle you see it. Then need to wipe it dowm .. more chance of swirls. I have tried spraying on the car then wipe till gone. Spray and wipe in then polish with a seperate cloth. Spray on the cloth .. etc etc .. They look great till they haze then at a show its a lil embarassing.

BTW the Meguiars techs confirm that FD is different than FI also that Sxratch-X is just repackaged #9 .

I just remembered a post about #9 and scratch x.

It looks like it is a different stuff base in what other fellow autopians have experimented.

Take a look to this thread http://www.autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27840&highlight=scratch+x

:nixweiss

I'm just going by my phone call to Meguiars a few weeks back and reconfirmed in another call to them about FD & FI last Friday. I asked a different tech there again about Scratch-X and #9. Scratch-X is #9 repackaged in a more consumer directed package. Same stuff.. Less for the $$.

Meguiar's never makes up their mind... it's sad indeed. From my experience, Scratch-X and #9 are not the same products. I'd take #9 over Scratch-X any day, please.
