A couple chicago rotary questions

Well, yesterday I picked up the $30 chicago rotary from the local harbor freight store and I have a couple questions.

1 - While this is a variable speed polisher, the markings on the dial are not very useful. I seem to remember someone having the dial number to RPM conversion but I can't find the thread. Anyone know where I can find that info?

2 - I need some pad advice. I have a set of pads from CMA for my PC - is there any reason I shouldn't use the same pads on the rotary? Also, which backing plate do I need to buy to use the smaller pads? Thanks!

wow, bump...im looking for the exact same info on the conversion chart. i figured i'd just bump this instead of making a new thread....it did come up on my search after all

FYI....you'll be lucky to get a couple uses out of that thing. I thought about buying one myself because of the price, but asked around first and got nothing but bad responses on how it burns up, etc.

Do a quick search and you will find tons of info.

I do own one and it is rated below average. I would use it as an overpriced pad cleaner machine and for light final polishing.

agreed. this machine has very little power. when adding pressure to the head of the buffer, there is a significant loss in power. recieved my makita last week and couldnt be happier.
