I love experimenting with different waxes/sealants on top of AIO.

This truck used to be a rental vehicle - so high mileage, and very neglected. When the customer bought it a month ago, the dealership "detailed" it by sweeping it out and slapping a coat of wax on the paint (and trim)...

Anyhow, my plan of attack was AIO topped with EX... but I changed midstream, and decided to seal with Collinite #845 Liquid Insulator Wax. The color seemed to just burst out when I buffed off the Collinite!

Last one.. The interior was rather rough.. Stains, stains, stains!!!
It was fun cleaning spilled tobacco spit!
This was the best I could do on it... Think he'll be pleased?

*shoots himself*

I can never make a dash look that good. All of you have some secret little people working for you, dont you?

Fr0zen,

Hit the carpet with Simple Green/water mixture to soak while I cleaned the interior trim. Scrubbed the carpets with a "Citrus" carpet shampoo by hand while my water heated up for my extractor. Then slurped it up with the extractor...

(I have one of those extractors that have a clear nozzle so I can watch all the brown stuff being sucked up into it)

Tassadar,

I have seven Keebler elves working for me. They reach all those tight spots. Recently, I've decided to let them clean dashboards and rearview mirrors. :D

Everyone on this board does a better job than me on interiors. I cant do it, I dont know where I am going wrong. I mean I dont know what you guys do!

Tass,

Where are your problem areas? What do you use (product wise) on which surfaces? Do you have any pics? Remember its hard for a few hours to repair a lifetime of neglect.
My biggest problem is windows in smoker's cars. ICK!

I do not have any interior pictures. In fact recently, I have tried to stay away from interiors (My personal car needs it right now though).

Nevertheless, my old method was the following.

1. Vacuum
2. Clean vinyl w/ 15:1 dillution of Simple Green
3. Cleaner floormats with same dillution
4. Scrub mats
5. Vacuum mats
6. Apply Vinylex (I don't buff it, possible problem here?)
7. Windows
8. Revacuum if necessary

If leather is present, then the following

1. Clean with wet rag if extremely dirty (never had to do this)
2. Clean with Lexol Leather Cleaner
3. Spray water, and remove excess cleaner
4. Wipe Dry
5. Apply Lexol Conditioner
6. Buff conditioner
7. Mist water, and wipe dry one last time

Welp there you go, feel free to being ridiculing.

Your interior process sounds good. Where does the car still look dirty? For me ins the drivers side and sometimes passenger side door arm rests. Here's my process:
Wipe down with dry mf to get the dust and loose junk. Go over vents and knobs with a detailing brush.
Vacuum
Go over all areas with non diluted Citra Clean. If I need to Ill spray it directly on the area and let it set or use a stiff brush. Sometimes I use a really powerful cleaner if that doesn't work but it usually does.
Then I spray some plastic and vinyl dressing onto a cotton applicator and go over everything. I always turn the applicator over and slightly buff the panels. I also dilute the dressing slightly in the bottle so its more of a satin look.
The floormats are last.
Try scrubbing the areas or letting the cleaner set and see if that helps, especially in tight spots.
Then I go over the windows after the exterior.

Let me know if that helps ya.

I do not VAC before I clean you are going to be in and out of the car cleaning so you pickup quite a lot of stuff that you need to re-vac. What I have been doing is

Pull the mats and Vac and wash and set in the sun for drying.
Use a APC to clean all the hard surfaces on the car. One that I like is Envro-Clean a cirtus based cleaner. Then I like to VAC the car and finish with a dressing. I'm using Vinylex and I so not buff it at all. What I have found is in t he cleaning stage make double sure that you have removed all the dirt and it wil spread evenly. As for the shine I like the shinny version of this product, but I have two finishes and let the customer tell me what they want to see
