I spent yesterday and today detailing my dad's truck. The truck is nearly 10 years old and has never really had a good polish. It gets a lot of use out in the woods when we go fishing, it's usually parked outside, and I'm sure it's been run through many car washes.
I'm looking for some opinions. I used Optimum Compound on a Lake Country orange pad and made two passes, and then went back with Optimum Polish on a Lake Country white pad and wasn't happy with the results. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need a rotary to take the paint to the next level? The truck also has a lot of scratches that I knew wouldn't come out, so I wasn't worried about those.
Interior was just a vacuum and wipe down.
Onto the pics...

This was the best pic I could get of the paint...and this was after two passes w/ OC and one pass w/ OP...what am I doing wrong?
