'98 Lincoln Navigator Extreme Makeover 56K NO WAY!

RaskyR1

Rasky's Auto Detailing
I did this vehicle a while back, but since I'm still new to Autopia I thought I'd share some of my work... ;)

10 years, 4 kids, 3 dogs, 1 horse, a long dirt road, and a vehicle that has never been detailed.

This vehicle belongs to my girls' parents. She was between cars and needed a vehicle, so they let her borrow it. My girl bought a new car a week later and I've had it the last few weeks at my disposal. She wanted to clean it to show her appreciation...I though it made for a good extreme makeover.

Total time invested was about 22 hours.

It was very hard to capture the true condition of the paint but you should get the idea. Some RIDS remained but without a PTG I wasn't going to push it.

Tire/wheel

98_nav_126.JPG

The MN winters combined with the dirt road have taken their toll on the wheel wells. The under coating was weathered and cracked. I figured it was going to get dirty again real soon so left them like this.

Very nice! Very impressed! What did you use to get the carpet so clean? What type of shampooer? What is LGM?

Meguiars APC+ for the most part. I hand scrubbed the areas and then followed them up with my Bissel Little Green Machine. I use a small amount of Folex in the unit too. Since I only detail part time now, the cost of a high dollar extractor is not justified. The LGM seems to do well but lacks the lift, pressure, and temp of the high dollar units. I do follow with my shop vac after doing a section with the LGM since it suck up more water.

Dude, you did an awesome job on this Navi. :bow I bet her parents loved it! I did a couple of vehicles this past weekend with similair interiors. Well, not that bad but close enough.

Thanks Jesse!

Yeah, her parents were blown away. Don't think they have driven it much since either. :D

yeah man great job...]

howdu do speaker grills?

Thanks!

I used APC and a MF towel in them. I spray the APC on the towel and gently rub the fabric. I treat the fabric grill covers similar to headliners. ;)

Holy dookey that thing was in awful shape! Nice save!

Thanks again bro!

amazing work....thats what I am talking about!

one thing I dont understand is how you went from 105 with a wool pad to 66 on a polishing pad...everytime I bring out the wool its for a 3 step where the 2nd step will be a light cutting pad with a light compound to remove the holograms from the wool...

Probably one of the best details I've ever seen posted on here. Way more work involved on the interior than most. Absoultly brilliant!

Thank you very much! :dance

It was a light cutting Solo wool pad that I used for the first step. It really depends on the paint but it only had light hologramming after the first step. After trying M66 and doing an IPA wipe down, all looked good. I had originally planned on leaving it at M66, as I wasn't actually getting paid on this vehicle....I never seem to be bale to leave a car without another LSP when using an AIO though.
