Hi Everyone,

I would like to thank everyone in advance for the help that you will give. With that being said I apologize in advance for the long post. But I need help!!!!!!!!!

Car history is as follows...... It’s my brothers. It’s a daily driver. First 5 years kept outside in the NYC area (snow,pollution,car-jackings,plane attacks) 2nd 5 years was garaged and is currently garaged today. Car has seen several brushed car washes per year. Followed by the complimentary illegal wiping the paint with a sand encrusted rag. It has seen 1 coat of wax, last year. Shined pretty nice! Really!

I think the car can be saved, so I posted a lot of photos. I am hoping for some expert help here.

I have been lurking for a long time, gathering information to plan my attack.

I have purchased the following to tackle this job (and many others LOL)

Clay Magic clay

Porter Cable 7424

Lake Country Pads....Yellow,orange,white,red , with flexible Velcro backing plate

Menzerna Intensive Polish

Menzerna Final Polish 2

3M rubbing compound (clear coat safe) professional formula part # 03900

Mequiars Quick Detailer Mist and Wipe

Mequiars Natural Shine vinyl and rubber protectant

lots of alcohol and water

micro fiber towels

Mequiars NXT (hey I trust scottwax)

Red Bull (it gives you wings yeeehaaaaaa)

Advil extra strength for sore arms, back, neck, hands, legs, etc.

Photos will be followed by questions(please oh please help me!)

www.members.aol.com/lovefishingman/swirlsmicromarring

The color is a real pretty metallic green. Do you think the Intensive Polish with the yellow cutting pad can get this out?

www.members.aol.com/lovefishingman/swirlsandstuff

Another shot of the same, I love the color the photos don’t do it justice! How would you consider the paint? light oxidation, moderate oxidation or heavy oxidation? The same with the marring or whatever it’s called , light , moderate or heavy? and please what do you call it?

www.members.aol.com/lovefishingman/frontfenderreflectionshot

Can this car be saved?, I see myself in the reflection so I guess that’s sort of good (LOL) again is it light, moderate, or heavy the damage you see?

www.members.aol.com/lovefishingman/frontfender

Lots of sun on the fender, can intensive polish save us with this?

www.members.aol.com/lovefishingman/roof

The car was not washed or cleaned for these photos, so you may see more than what’s really there. These photos I hope will give you an idea as to the cars condition

www.members.aol.com/lovefishingman/roof2

This photo was set on macro for a real close-up. I cannot feel these lines with my nail at all. So I guess that’s good. Again will Intensive save our butts considering it cant be felt by our nails?

www.members.aol.com/lovefishingman/roof3

Whole roof shot, in bright sun. Shows overall condition. How bad does it look?

www.members.aol.com/lovefishingman/trunklid

This was probably caused by the aforementioned illegals with their brooms working the surface at the car wash.

www.members.aol.com/lovefishingman/trunklid2

Another of the same

Theres a problem with the rear bumper cover. White haze in spots. See the pictures below. I can’t feel any bumps or indents on the white spots, no pits or anything like that. Hoping its heavy oxidation. What do you guys think????

www.members.aol.com/lovefishingman/bumpercover

To the left of the white stuff, there was a sticker that protected it from the sun

www.members.aol.com/lovefishingman/bumpercover2

A real close up shot with macro for a closer look.

www.members.aol.com/lovefishingman/bumpercover3

more of the same

www.members.aol.com/lovefishingman/bumpercover6

This shot is on the other side, again I can’t feel any roughness or pits or measurable difference to the cleaner paint. I hope that’s good. Is it oxidation or something worse?

www.members.aol.com/lovefishingman/bumpercoverlongshot

This photo gives you a good idea of the whole bumper

I hope these photos help. Please can you tell me from your experience if the Intensive Polish I bought will fix these problems. Also what is the total condition of the car in your opinion? Is it light, moderate, or heavy damage? And please explain your answers.

I will attack this car by.....

1. Wash and Clay

2. PC set to kill, with yellow pad and Menzerna Intensive Polish

3. PC set to stun, with Menzerna Final Polish2

4. Advil and rest

Do I stand any chance????

Thank you in advance for all your help,

Lovefishingman

I am sorry about that. It works fine for me. I just double click on the hyper text and it goes right to the picture.

Do the pictures work, if not please advise.

Thank you,

lovefishingman

Sorry. I tried with a couple of servers even. Tried right clicking, double clicking, left single clicking. Just script.

Maybe just my computer? Maybe someone else will have better luck.

Lovefishingman,

The pics are working just fine for me. Those are very sharp, detailed pics and the swirls show up very clearly. I'm no expert but I'm sure one of the pros will respond soon. Just wanted you to know that the pics are coming across without any problems. Well, at least it is for me.

I would also order some Menzerna PG while you are at it. Some of those swirls are nasty looking :D I think the car is definatly saveable or at least is going to look a LOT better when you are done using the menzerna products. I probably would use the cutting pad with the menzedrna PG (if you buy it) or IP and then move to a polishing pad and IP or FP depending what imperfections are left in the paint.

from my research, the menzerna polishes are better used with rotary buffers, but are usable with PC. If you havn't bought the Menzerna polishes yet, i would recommend some meg's DACP #83 with a cutting pad on your pc. i have found (and it seems to follow with people on this site) that that is a very effective combo for the PC. After multiple passes, depending on the results, i would follow with maybe some meg's 80 with a light cut/polishing pad, then hit it up with a topper wax or a sealent. The car looks pretty pad in pics, but just look at it as another car. It might just take a little more time and effort. Just make sure you research, research, research. There are plenty of vehicles on here that are in that bad of condition and have been worked back to good condition. just don't get too frustrated if it takes a little more work. good luck.

EDIT: ok i see that you have bought the menzerna... i think that it should still work but i still suggest the dacp.

Thanks for the advice on the Meg DCAP #83. I read that some people prefered that to the Intensive Polish for the PC after I had bought it:(

I am going to use the Intensive Polish, because thats whats in the detailing bucket right now. But if it dosent work I will try and find someone with the DCAP #83.

Of coarse with as bad as everyone is telling me the car is I might throw some beach sand on it, and than hit it with the PC and the yellow pad. Do you think that will cut some of the bad paint out? I think that might be more abrasive than the Intensive Polish and deal with this mess.

:) :) :)

Wish me luck, I wont start until the end of this week. I will post pictures as things progress.

Thanks again,

Lovefishingman

I have to save the pictures and add a .jpg extension to them. Opening them makes my browser have a caniption fit. I think they lost the file extension when they were uploaded to AOL.

Thanks for letting me know that your machine is having a caniption with the pics. I dont have any idea why yours would do that. Most people are saying the pics are great and work fine. A few are saying that there are some problems.

If anyone knows why the other guys might be having pic problems can you please help them? Than help me with this car please (LOL

Thanks again,

Lovefishingman
