#83 vs. #2

What is the difference in aggressiveness of these two products, and is #2 anywhere near being a substitute for #83. Down the street at NAPA I can get #2 for $7.99 and they have to order #83 specially for $19.99. Major difference, and at that price I will just order some more SSR 2.5 or try Menzerna or something else. Any opinions?

NM, I see on a web site that the directions on the bottle I saw were outdated. They now recommend it only for use with a rotary. I think I will stick with SSR 2.5

Actually Diamond Cut (#85) is their most aggressive polish I believe. They give it a 10 out of 10 on their scale while #2 is only a 5.

#2 is not *that* abrasive, maybe a tad less than #83 but more than #80. It' my understanding that it's been updated so you can use it with a PC or even by hand.

After that, I'm not too certain on the differences. I think I recall #2 was more for single stage paints? I think it doesn't have the oils either like the #80's series.

No, no, no! :D Years ago, #2 was labeled for hand, orbital, or rotary. More recently, it has been labeled for rotary only. Earlier this year it was reformulated to once again be usable by hand, DA, or rotary. I think the price difference you are seeing is because the #2 comes in a 16 oz. bottle, while the #83 comes in a 32 oz.

PS For the person who said that #2 is the most agressive Meg's product, I believe you may be thinking of #4, which is an old SS compound.
