#81 vs Natty's Blue

My car's SS red paint was in OK condition to begin with. A month ago, I went over the whole car with #80, #81 and 476S. It made a significant enough difference for my wife to notice and say "wow!".

To prepare for a car show next weekend, I applied Natty's Blue (first time I've used it) to most of the car (except hood and bumper for other reasons). I thought I was going to see a noticeable difference, but I almost didn't notice anything. not even sure if there was any difference.

I'm wondering if #81 made my paint wet enough that Natty's wouldn't have much to add to it? Or is it because today is too cloudy and not sunny enogh to show a difference? Or I just can't tell? What do you think? Do you think after a glaze the appearance of the wax is less noticeable?

It probably has more to do with the layer of 476 on there already, than the glaze. i would bet if you started with a clean slate and than applied the natty's you would see the difference. I have tried both waxes over top of glazes and the natty's was definately deeper and wetter.

Somehow after the Natty's Blue has been on there for a few hours, it started looking wetter and deeper! Not sure what that means but I definitely started to notice the difference after 3 coats of NB.

3 coats is overdoing a nuba'. If you are thorough, you only need one. Two coats are for those that rush but still want to ensure complete coverage.

NB does look better/wetter with time.

I think Natty's Blue is a great wax especially for the price. It usually adds a lot of depth and wetness to the paint. There are a lot of good waxes and sealants out there. I think you reached the point of deminishing returns. If your paint already looks really good and you put another coat of something on it, it's probably not going to look that much better.

Noting that I've never used NB....sometimes when you apply a lot of carnauba in a short time you get a very noticeable/pleasing *if temporary* build up of oils/etc. We used to call this "concours waxing" a few years ago when various Autopians were doing it for shows. With all the rich "trade secret oils" that the #81 leaves behind and the way 476S acts on ss, it might take that kind of effect to make the addition of NB noticeable.
