Hello everyone,

What is the prefered method for applying #80 Speed Glaze with a PC ?

I have the Meguiars Cutting, Polish, and Finish pads.

Work it till it hazes ?

Thanks for any tips....

I like to use speed 5, with a hint of 6 every now and then. Basically, work a 2x2 area using enough product on the pad to be able to work the area for a minute or two before it starts to dry up. I don't find that it dusts much, but just kind of starts to disappear. When using #80, I don't use any added pressure other than the weight of the machine. Let the polish and the machine do the work and take your time.

Oh yeah, I use a polishing pad but you *can* use a cutting pad for added bite but will have to follow that up with a polishing pad anyway.

Hope this helps.

I lke to go with a polishing pad, and 3 passes. (One of these days Im going to try it with a cutting pad, then cleaning up with a polishing pad). I end my process the same way I started. With some of the other polishes out there, it doesnt get exclusive use like it use to. But its still part of my arsenal.

I spread it out with the speed on 5, moving the PC 4 to 6 inches per second with overlapping passes. I then up the speed to 6 and slow down to maybe 1/2-1" per second and you can see the product clear out (assuming you didn't use too much product). Helpful hint...if #80 isn't pretty easy to wipe off, you used too much or didn't work it long enough. Helful hint #2...#80 wipes off more easily with a terry cloth towel vs microfiber.

That's great advice. Thanks Scottwax. I'm going to have to try this myself because the first time I used #80 it was very difficult to remove and I got fed up. It was also very humid outside. That might have contributed to it too.
