`79 Trans Am - 65 Miles

Eh, I never liked those droop-snoot ones. `78 was the pinnacle for that car, with the WS6. Or maybe the Souveran. Besides, in `79 the real 6.6 T/A was gone, replaced by the Olds 403.
 
Heh heh, well...the buyer was out of the picture pretty fast and people can be funny with regard to sentimental attachments.

(Gee, why does Accumulator keep cars around that *he* never drives?!? And watches that he never uses to tell time? Why have guns you never shoot? Why have....)

What I don`t understand is why anybody would think it`s worth big bucks, but OK...anything`s worth exactly what somebody will pay for it.

Outside of Kalifornia, I think the Pontiac 400 wss still avaliable as an option.

Regardless, I`m guessing the car mentioned above would need some significant work to be reliable. Would think certain rubber and other parts have deteriorated somewhat over the years.
 
My father being a Pontiac dealer...that was the cat`s ass!! I drove Firebirds as demonstrators for years (yes, I was spoiled!!)

It`s possible there were a few Pontiac 400 T/A`s at 220 HP that were leftover and went into the early 79`s, but the rest got the Olds 403 that was what...165? 180? The youngsters don`t appreciate how at 220 HP that car was like the quickest (American) car available at the time. Now you can get a Camry that has more horses than that.

In this case, reliability is a non-issue. Given the mileage, the car`s history, the originality (everything but the battery) and the asking price - it`s not a car you would ever drive at this point. It`s basically a car for a museum or a collector that has tons of cars simply on display. It will probably get scooped up by a Pontiac collector and brought to big GM/Pontiac shows in an enclosed trailer - if that.
 
Not sure I could own a car and NEVER drive it. Friend a few blocks over has a Buick GNX Grand National. Less than 40 miles on it.
