Can anyone offer their thoughts on whether the performance difference between the 7424 and 7424 XP is worth the upgrade? I can sell the 7424 with a net difference of $50 to pay for the XP.

Thanks

My 7424 is on the way out after about 5 years of hard use, so I upgraded to a new 7424XP as a back up, however, I did have the chance to try it out. I like the slightly different handle, and I really like the location of the new switch. I find it to be almost as quiet/loud as it's predisessor, and appears to have a bit more power than the 7424. My personal feelings are; I would use the 7424 until it's life is just about done, and then I would spring for the XP. If my 7424 was not on it's way out, the reviews and desings would not have pursuaded me to spend the money for the XP. I just think it is a waste of money to buy something when my current machine still does what it is supposed to do.

I used the XP for 6 months after using the 7424 for 6-7 months on all of my corrections via the KBM.

IMO the upgrade from the 7424 to the XP is not worth it. I never found the additional power to be noticeable, but I could feel the additional power in the form of additional vibration on the XP.

Then I got a Meguiars G110v2. Less vibration then the XP and will corrected at speed 5 where the XP needed speed 6 via the KBM. The v2 also has a better feel in your hands.

I just picked up a Festool FEQ 150 that is in a league of its own, but at $495 it should be.

I think the power is evident on the XP vs. the PC, and worth having, and it seems like the noise/vibration is down and a little more refined than before. In 6 months when I have confidence that they've got all the bugs out and the reliability is good, I may well try the G110v2 and make the XP a 4" platform.

yeah, i dont get the same feeling as bryan does...I notice more umph in the XP model and the same or less vibrations. Might be a little louder too, but with my headphones in all the time, its not an issue to me
