7424 as DUAL ACTION sander?

RANDAL

IOWA BOY
Mydad I are sanding paint off 2 different vichles for new paint on each. He has been trying to use a DA, but runs out of copressed air very quickly. i am using air grinder with rough sand paper.I use a DW elec. wood sander while letting the air compressor catch up. Will a PC hold up to sanding a vehicle instead of using air powered tools? It would be cheaper to go with PC and velcro pad than it would be to buy a larger air compressor and velcro pad for DA. What do you PC users think, I donthave a PC yet but that will be my next purchASE I think. Thank you RANDAL

it should work fine, but I'd prefer to use a DA with an air compressor as it works much faster ... I also think you probably should use no larger than 5" disks

THANKS TO BOTH cHARLES AND STEVE FOR THE ABOVE INFO. NOW IF STEVE WAS JUST HANDING THESE! I GUESS ILL JUST GET ONE SOE WHERE! IS THE 7336 AND HEAVIER MODEL OF THE 7424, OR JUST MADE AS A SANDER? I just dont have enough air for the air sander or the DA. Randal

I believe the PC were originally made for wood sanding not body shop work... if I were to have to strip two vehicles, I'd look into the nearest bead blaster as it can be done much more efficiently ... if that is not an option, I know of a friend not too far from you that sells a chemical paint stripper used by many Street Rodders and Classic Car restorers

Do not forget that Troy handles polishers and pads at Detail City.

I would say that the PC will take all the sanding your arms can take to hold it against the paint. I did a lot of sanding on aluminum and my PC did the work just fine.

Steve I tried soe spray on aircraft stripper first, but doesnt work I thought it would. Maybe I should have got some that brushes on the local body shop used in the early 90;s. Ive got a little sand blaster, but the old enamel isnt coming off the scout very well. Dads working on moms new 66 Tbird with the DA. Im flipping from e*** and binder bulletin and checking back on here. Tanks RANDAL
