AAACK! STOP DON'T USE THAT STUFF NEAR PAINT!

Actually they say on their website that it is ok to use on auto paint for bugs and tar. Personally I wouldn't do it. This stuff is paint remover. It will dull auto paint.

I just used it to remove the adhesive on a dealer sticker on my daughter's Honda. Just don't pour it on or leave it on. (Or light a match) Wet a rage with it. It'll be fine.

I have only used it 2 times on my car. Not letting it sit either. Just rub on and off. I didn't notice any dulling, but i'll keep it in mind . Thanks.

I'm just guessing here but perhaps it is ok to use on auto paint when it has a clearcoat. I've seen that stuff on non clearcoat paint and powder coated steel and it really dulled the finish.

I've spent the last two weeks looking for another container of 3M's adhesive, wax, and tar remover. It came in a little 8oz. metal can and worked wonders on stuff like road tar, tree sap, glue, goo and various crud.

Turns out that 3M has discontinued this particular version and replaced it with another version in an aerosol form. Same exact name but new p/n. That General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner is not the same stuff.

I went to over 10 auto parts stores looking for the old stuff. Seems to be long gone. I bought a can of the new aerosol at Advance Auto Parts for $6.00.

I also bought a little can of Goof Off for tree sap removal. It's basically lighter fluid as others have said. Just be careful with it and you won't have a problem. Use a QD to polish the area; hit it with your fave wax if you want to.

If you are nervous, test the Goof Off in an inconspicuous area before attacking that spot in the middle of your hood.

Reviving this ancient thread -- this product is not discontinued. I bought some locally this week. It worked perfect.

3M product number is 03607

Here's what it looks like and one place you can get it (this is not where I got it and I do not endorse the site as I have no experience with it).

4519 - 3M Adhesive & Wax Remover - 03607

Mineral spirits is found everywhere. Up here it can be labeled as Varsol. Never had a problem with it softening paint.

This was just a clean up for sale...not a correction. We did spend 10 man hours on it though.

Process:
Interior:
Vacuum
ONR wipedown
Optimum Protectant Plus wipedown
DuraGloss foaming carpet cleaner on the Carpet
Magic Eraser and ONR/Water on the visors and headliners
Zep glass cleaner
Vacuumed again

Exterior:
ONR wash
Clayed with Meguiar's Red Clay (yeah, it had a lot of contaminates)
Dried
Chris hit the flat panels with the rotary, PFW, and 105
I then followed with the Flex on all panels, with Orange LC flat pad, and D151
We topped with Optimum Car Wax
Black Wow on rubber trim
Hyper Dressing 2:1 on tires
Aqua Wax on Glass

Notables:
Trunk carpeting removed and vacuumed, along with the entire trunk area
Engine bay was vacuumed, and wiped down with ONR and water

We didn't take befores, just afters. There are no sun shots because this was a wooded area. Plus, this was not a full correction, so I am just posting this because the car is cool.

All in all, not bad for 37 years old

Wow, ole school in da house. Amazing how Porsche really hasn't changed the design of the 911 in over 30 years. I guess it just shows, you can't improve on perfection :money:

Great job guys, thanks for posting :Christmas Hat:

It does shows how interiors have really changed. It is the same layout but the door panels and other interior surfaces fit look crude compared to modern vehicles.
