69 Firebird...Rebirth as Camaro

Well I didnt have the pleasure of detailing this car, but I thought I would share it with those who may be interested. My uncle purchased the shell of a Firebird, and over the past 4-5 months in his free time has built it into a Camaro, everything is absolutely flawless and done to perfection. I inspected the paint which he painted himself, use to paint cars for a living...No orange peel what so ever. Only 36 miles on the engine he put in it. Dont really know anything about the engine, so I included some pictures so maybe you guys can figure out what it is otherwise I can try and get some hp/tq numbers for you.

As nice as that car is (it's freaking gorgeous,) it's just wrong to take a classic Pontiac, especially a Firebird, and convert it to a Camaro. There's a ton of 1st gen Camaro project cars out there, the Firebirds are tougher to find.
 
My nephew just got a 68 firebird of course someone put camaro front fenders on it.. in tine it wil get the correct one. it's white and is in need of a detail i was told..

It is a beautiful car and looks to be very well done, but I agree, if going to go to that much expense and trouble why not make it into a Firebird and keep it as original as possible.

Yep. I have a customer with a 1969 Z/28 who is having it redone in the correct Hugger Orange. Too bad the shop went under halfway through.... :nervous2:



I have mixed feelings about turning an F-bird into a Camaro, although Chevy parts and engines do cost less. Regardless, looks like a first rate conversion and I love the rat motor!
