69 Charger - Black

I don`t have a ton of experience with single stage paint. There are a fair amount of swirls and micromaring and I want to polish and seal. I was thinking Cquartz but have heard mixed reviews on coatings and single stage paints. The correction plan is set but I wanted to know your thoughts on other LSPs. I`m nervous about streaking with Cquartz and having to repolish. Thanks in advance!

First of all...love the car....my first car was a 68 Charger.....hate the fact that they have 4 doors now. Gotta (partially) go with Ronkh on this one.....would love to see Souveran or Signature Series II on that ride

I don`t know if coatings and single stage paint play well or not, but me personally, I would do a couple coats of a carnauba paste wax. AWESOME CAR!!!

I have used coatings on single stage paints before. The coating is not as durable as it is bc cc paint. If its a show car go with the wax. I like dodo waxes myself. Blue velet ot hard candy is nice on black

Love those cars (my mother had a `69 R/T when I was a kid).

I`d LSP it with a Collinite wax. IMO beauty waxes don`t offer the same protection or longevity, and very *VERY* few people can see an appearance diff even if they say they can.

I wouldn`t go hammering the paint in puruit of Autopian Perfection either, and take it easy around the stripes.

Definitely go with a wax, I`ve had definitely had some trouble on single stage with coatings. Personally I just like to keep it classy, megs M16, blackfire midnight sun or even some super fresh swissvax.

Thanks guys! It`s my buddy`s car and he wants durable, low maintenance and more gloss. My gut was saying carnuaba but I love these coatings on my newer cars so I had to investigate.

Yup; another vote for carnauba on Single-stage black. My preference is Collinite 915. Great "higher percentage-blended" carnauba wax, easy to use (wipe-on-wipe-off), with good longevity (life of wax), and in my opinion, not an "expensive" beauty wax at $37.00 for a 12 oz. can.

Still cannot decide?? Look on-line at waxes that may be for sale by fellow Autopians. Since coatings are the LSP-of-choice these days by many detailers, the waxes are collecting dust on the shelves of these detailers and many Premium carnauba waxes (Pinnacle Souveran, Dodo Supernatural, Chemical Guy`s 50/50, P21S 100% carnauba, or even the discontinued Meg`s M16) are for sale
